  • Disables AFM system preventing costly repairs!
2011 Yukon xl Denali awd 6.2l I had a lifter get stuck on the #4 cylinder due to afm. pulled the intake and freed the lifter. added this device to turn off the afm. it works as described. I'm really impressed with the simplicity of it. The car now runs better than it has in awhile, and fir some reason the transmission shifts much smoother with the afm disabled. I would encourage anyone with a gm afm equipped vehicle to disable the system immediately as the repairs can run into the thousands of dollars. 200 bucks verses 3000 dollars is a no brainer. I am in no way associated with the product or the seller. This review was not compensated. ... show more

  • Worth the money for sure
UPDATE: 12/24/2020 I have now put 2700 miles on my vehicle since having this adapter, and I am thoroughly pleased with it. It does what it’s supposed to and keeps the motor in V8 mode continuously. I dove from Oklahoma to Colorado with it with no issues. As far as fuel mileage goes, before I had this adapter I was averaging 16.5 mpg (calculating manually not using the computer) and after putting 1600ish miles on it I was averaging 15.5 mpg, so no worries about losing efficiency. Kinda makes you wonder why even have the AFM option on the motor. Unfortunately I still used about a quart of oil on the way up there and a quart on the way back. Apparently that issue can only be solved by getting an aftermarket valve cover, but that is a different topic. Overall I am pleased, it’s definitely worth the money, especially if it helps increase the longevity of the engine. OLD REVIEW: Like most people with 5.3l chevys that have the active fuel management, I bought this because it’s cheaper than replacing lifters and also having to add a quart of oil every 1000 miles and apparently it will continue to be a problem because of the AFM system, so this was an obvious choice. Now I’ve only had it for 2 days now, and only put about 150 miles on it so I can’t speak to the longevity, but I do know that it does what it’s advertised to do and keeps the engine in V8 mode all the time. I will update after I put 3000 miles on and change the oil. ... show more

  • If you have a 5.3, just buy it
Does what you need it to do which is disable the friggin v4 mode on your car. I've used these on two different vehicles with 5.3 engines. The first one was after I has to put a jasper reman engine in a truck when the lifter collapsed. It does the job. Pricey? Not if you've had a 5.3 explode on you...chevy gmc could make a button to disable this?!? But in the meantime buy one of these, plug it in, and don't worry about the stupid 1 mile to the gallon you're losing to stay in v8 mode all the time. $6500 for a new engine buys a lot of gas!! Cheers! ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted... V4 mode gone!
I have a 2017 Silverado 6.2L 2wd. I didn’t want to develop lifter or oil consumption issues so I got the Range AFM to prevent V4 mode. Let’s face it, we aren’t buying trucks for their MPG anyhow. I plugged the Range AFM and presto! No more V4! Truck drives great and has the V8 power I want ready at all times. The MPG loss has been minimal. I have no idea what some of the reviewers are saying about issues... I’d say their vehicles have undiagnosed issues. ... show more

  • Doesn't totally work with DFM
The claim is that this will work with GM AFM and DFM. I had one of these in two different Chevy Silverados with Active Fuel Management. They worked. Now I have one in my 2020 Silverado, 5.3L with Dynamic Fuel Management. Actually, I sent the first one back, thinking it was faulty. Anyway, it work's to keep all cylinders firing in 8th gear ( 8 speed transmission, don't know how it works with the 10 speed). To keep all cylinders firing in 1-7th gears, (while I'M in town), I must put the transmission in "L" and paddle up to 7th, otherwise I get the obnoxious "popping" of the floating valves, (I installed a cat-back exhaust so I could hear the truck running). Oh, it also disables the "auto stop" feature. I like this, (I despise "auto-stop"). ... show more

  • Pricey but worth it..
Bought for my 2020 Trail Boss LT 5.3l, actually works as intended, have a custom exhaust and when the truck would drop into v4 mode it would cause a bad warbling and drone. This now no longer happens, plus added benefit is the auto start stop doesn’t engage, don’t have to press the button to turn it off anymore, the light for it stays on but I don’t have to worry about pressing it. So I’m really pleased with this and so happy I don’t have to tear apart my dash to install an auto stop start eliminator! Just to be nit picky it’d be nice if it didn’t have an led light or at least an option to turn it off. ... show more

  • 2017 Gmc Sierra Denali 6.2
Just to make everyone aware, i have 63,000 miles on my truck. Had it installed on my truck for about 4 days. To give an honest review of my experience, personally i did not notice any improvements in the way my truck performed. If anything, i lost a bit of fuel milage and it seemed like my shift points were rougher than they already are (assuming owners of these trucks are aware of the transmission issues). I especially noticed a hard down shift sometimes when coming to a stop at a light or stop sign. Only aftermarket parts on my truck are a k&n cold air intake system and a flowmaster 70 series exhaust system. However, the range programmer was super easy to install. Just plug and drive. I know i didnt have it on there very long but i figured if it was going to make a difference, i would have noticed in 4 days of driving with it and i didnt want it to cause negative issues considering ive had bad experience with certain programmers in the past. It did not throw any codes or cause my engine light to come on. I just did not feel that for the money spent it was worth having on my truck when i didnt notice any performance difference nor did i gain any fuel milage. I can pay that money towards a tuner that will still eliminate the v4 mode and also allow me to tune other details of the engine. Just a personal opinion of mine. But to answer the main question, yes, it does what it says and will keep the engine in V8 mode at all times. I gave it 3 stars for that reason and how easy it is to install. ... show more
