  • Best picture so far
Size: Dual Lens-5.0FT Semi-rigid Cable
This borescope has the best picture I’ve see for an inexpensive unit. Also great depth of field.

  • A new favorite tool. Ralcam Borescope H406BD (5ft, Semi-Rigid Cable)
Size: Dual Lens-5.0FT Semi-rigid Cable
I've only had this for a week and it's already going to be one of my favorite tools. Pros: Dual camera, some one-handed controls, decent case, good investment for any handyman Cons: No cover for the charge port (though easily solved with some painter's tape, if desired) Controls: The buttons/controls only take about 5 minutes to understand, there's nothing complicated going on with them. The range of scope articulation is wide enough that it can, in fact, flex backward up to 180° as seen in promo pics. One of the biggest reasons I bought this particular model (in addition to being dual camera) is that the camera articulation lever can be worked from both the front and the back. What this allows is that, even though I use my thumb to control it in normal use, I can use my index finger in back to hold that articulation in place and then use that same thumb to take a picture or start videos on the button right next to it — all while still having my other hand free to manipulate the flex tube. This is VERY beneficial when you're trying to finesse your way to a particular view, as taking your other hand off the tube to do the same functions with two hands could easily ruin that finessing. I don't know that this can be stressed enough. This is only my first borescope, but it almost seems like this should be a standard consideration in design. Flex Tube: Not sure how to describe the semi-rigid flex tube other than to say it's not too rigid and can flex on its own when being pushed. So far, there was a couple times I wish it was slightly less rigid, but if it were, then it wouldn't have been rigid enough to do all the other things I wanted, so I'd say they found the right median and I have zero complaints. If you're not merely going to be shoving this through piping or tubing and want to look inside walls and at hard angles, I'd definitely get the semi-rigid option. This unit only articulates in 2 directions, but it's very easy to twist and move the flex tube around to alter the plane of articulation, so there's no real shortcomings in that regard at a unit of this price (I happened to get it while it was on sale for $40 off). Miscellaneous: Other reviewers had some complaints about the flash card getting lost inside the unit after removing it. I never even took it out. The USB-C port will transfer data. I hooked it up to my iMac without any issues to transfer pics and videos from it. I tested it with both the supplied USB-C to USB-A cable and one of my own USB-C to USB-C cables. The case is actually very decent, I was expecting less. It's a semi-softish case, but is lined with good padding inside. As long as you treat it with respect, it's going to treat the scope well. Just not meant to be thrown in the bed of a truck along with your tool bags, though a secure place in your bed box or pack-out boxes will be just fine. From what I can tell so far, the battery will probably last a few hours of normal use and video taking, but not sure of the approximate time. I also never got to the point of witnessing the supposed self-shutdown for high camera temps (the lights get very warm or even hot when used for a prolonged period of time). Blah, blah, blah: I do a lot of DIY and have been wanting a scope for several years now, primarily so I can see what might be inside walls (electric, plumbing), but also just other random things. Doing utility work for years teaches you that what you THINK should be going on behind a wall is often very different from what IS going on behind a wall. There's never a shortage of surprises. When I ordered it, I was going to be installing grab bars at my parents' house right near electrical switches and had also just removed some errant debris bogging up the blade on their garbage disposal. So it was finally easier to justify the purchase, as opposed to it just feeling like a luxury item. This unit has probably already paid for itself in time and expense in the future by making me aware of some plumbing inside a shared wall between two rooms. Had I drilled into it at a later time on another project, that would have been a disaster. It's 2" plastic and could have been mistaken as part of a double-stud by someone in a hurry. Thaaaank you, Borescope. For handymen that are already going to be drilling 1/2 holes for toggle bolts anyway, there's really not much point in not just scoping the area really quick. If you can give the homeowner or resident a heads up on other lines/utilities in the immediate area, that's just a better light on you, not to mention avoiding problems for yourself. For those that are homeowners, I was able to manage the flex tube well enough inside the walls to look around in all directions through only a 3/8 hole in the drywall. A hole of this size is easily filled back in with nothing more than heavyweight spackle. Final Notes: I will say that I got a little aggressive with it at one point and felt like I was about to get caught up on something. Take care not to be too lax about that, as the side camera could get damaged and the articulation section is softer material. Really happy with this borescope. I spent a couple hours or so researching before choosing it and it has paid off well. I might upgrade one day when my needs change, but I'd be quite happy with this for years. ... show more

  • Very high resolution. Way better then my snap on bk5600
Size: Dual Lens-5.0FT Semi-rigid Cable
Very good scope great picture quality the one thing I am a little worried about is overheating it on a hot engine. I think it’s only rated to 170 or so degrees but I think if it gets hot it automatically turns off. Haven’t had any issues with it yet.

  • Good Unit
Size: Dual Lens-5.0FT Flexible Cable
Works great, but this device is not for use in fuel tanks, liquid, or in a flammable environment. I bought it to fish a socket out of my motorcycle gas tank but couldn't use it because of the risk of ignition. The digital image is great and the ability to move the lens head remotely is awesome. Seems like a good product. ... show more
