Description

UPDATE: The current version switch no longer has 4 wires and requires crimping. This switch will include 4 blue terminals for when you are replacing a 4 wire switch, like the picture shows.This switch works with all D4C Rainbow systems. If you have a switch that has 6 holes where the wires push in, please read information below on how to wire this design switch.Factory OEM switch for the D4C SE (Special Edition) and D4C model Rainbow. This switch first came as pictured in the early version D4C that came out in 1986. Rexair then changed to a new design switch that did not have wires attached. The new version had six holes that you would stick the wires into. Inside each hole was a spring loaded catch that held the wires in place.Over time, the factory found that this was an inferior design and went back to the four wire system.

I had to look online for how to hook it up since mine only had two wires instead of four but it was relatively easy to install and it fixed my problem. Rainbow vacuum cleaners are expensive and this was a cheap fix to give me more years of service.

I know if it came down to it, my dear wife would choose her Rainbow D4C over me in a minute. Putting that aside, Rainbow changed the D4C On/Off switch from a 6 wire to a 4 wire some time back. When you order this switch, you can find numerous Diagrams for a proper installation with a simple Google search.     • Rainbow power switch replacement
My power switch finally crapped out completely after about 4 years of coming on when it wanted to. Took it to the Rainbow store to get it replaced, $125 to $150 to replace the switch. It took a little doing to get it to come out thru the top of the handle, just takes a little time and patience. got it out, looked on line to see how to hook up the 4 wire switch to a 6 wire unit, piece of cake. a little solder and some shrink tubing and about 20 minutes and the machine is running like new. $125 indeed. ... show more
