Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit is easy to use, and only takes minutes to apply. It removes air from the break, fills it with durable resin and makes it even stronger than before. For best results, repairs should be made as soon as possible after the damage occurs and before the break is contaminated by dirt or water. In addition, avoid the use of glass treatments after the crack has formed and prior to repair. However, glass treatments can be applied one (1) week after repair. The kit works best on round damage not more than one inch in diameter, and cracks not longer than 12 inches. It will not repair damage to more than one layer of glass. Pro-tip to avoid poor results - refrain from applying resin too quickly, air pockets forming during the application or repairing a contaminated crack as this may compromise your results.

The Rain-X Windshield Repair Kit did exactly what I needed it to do for a chip I got in my car windshield, especially considering the timing. I used this kit to deal with a small star chip, and I was particularly concerned about it spreading during the cold winter months. I'm happy to report that the kit performed very well in stopping the damage from spreading. Since applying the resin, the chip has remained stable, preventing it from turning into a long, dangerous crack, which is a huge relief and definitely the most important job this kit had. The Reality Check: Now, for expectations: while it stabilized the chip, it's important to understand that the crack is not gone and the spot is not completely invisible. You can still see the repaired area when you look closely. It's not a magic eraser that makes the glass flawless again, but it greatly minimizes the visibility and, crucially, reinforces the area. Summary: If you have a small chip or starburst and your main goal is to prevent it from spreading and turning into an expensive replacement job, this Rain-X kit is a great, reliable, and quick solution. It was a worthwhile investment that saved my windshield from getting worse during the winter. Just remember that it’s a repair, not an un-do button!

Was very skeptical but it worked. It’s not perfect. You can still see the lines faintly but it did actually work. Will repeat the process again to ensure it’s super solid. Didn’t think it’d work but figured I’d give it a shot before I spent the money to get it professionally done.

I bought this Rain-X repair kit after getting a small chip in my windshield and wanted to try fixing it before it became a bigger problem. The instructions were fairly easy to follow, and the repair process didn’t require any special tools or experience. The resin was easy to apply, and after the repair, the chip was much less noticeable. I liked being able to handle the repair myself instead of immediately taking the car to a glass shop. Not sure how it works with really long cracks but I was able to repair a small star crack better than Safelite was able to. Easy to use and you get multiple repairs out of a single kit

I was really impressed with how well this Rain-X windshield repair kit worked. I had a small chip in my windshield and was worried it would eventually spread into a larger crack. The instructions were pretty straightforward, and the whole process was easier than I expected. After applying the resin and letting it cure, the chip was noticeably less visible and looked much better than it did before. For the price, this kit is definitely worth trying before paying for a professional repair, especially for smaller chips or bull’s-eyes. It may not make the damage completely disappear, but it filled the chip well and gave me a lot more confidence that it won’t continue spreading. I’d definitely keep another one of these on hand for future windshield chips.

This kit so much cheaper than paying the $100 a professional windshield specialist would charge you. It will also prevent the damage from getting larger (if repaired properly) - which would cost even more money. I've had my cars' windshields fixed this way for many years now, and I can say this is probably the cheapest, and easiest way to do it. Things you need to know It takes about 1hr to do this properly - so that you're not rushing and you have plenty of time to read directions, and allow time for drying. You'll also need access to direct sunlight (to help the drying process). Depending on the nature of the chip or crack, if the damage is about the size of a quarter coin, then it's probably easily fixable with something like this kit. Larger damage may require more work, and in certain cases may not work at all. Also, if the crack is very close to the edge of the windshield glass, then it maybe difficult to repair. This kit needs about 1.75 inches clearence from the edge of the windshield to work. Anything closer than 1.75 inches and you may not be able to affix the device close enough to the crack. Lastly, you'll need some clean towels (paper towels are fine), and a razor blade(s) for scraping off excess dried resin. General procedure This kit works is by forcibly pushing liquid resin into the chip or crack and then letting the sun or ultraviolet light dry the resin. Once dried, all you have to do is scrape off the excess resin with a razor blade (the resin comes off easily in flakes). The kit comes with a device that acts as "injector" by attaching itself onto your windshield with suction cups. You simply put a few drops of resin into the injector, and wait for it to firm up. Once it has firmed up, you take off the injector device, and then place a plastic strip on top of the repair area. Let that bake in the sun for half an hour or so, and then take off the plastic strip. Scrape off excess resin, and you're done. My gripe with this otherwise great kit is that they give you only enough resin for one repair - maybe two if you're lucky. Results can vary I've had some cracks "disappear" completely with this method. Other times, the crack's impact point is filled in, but there is still some visible imperfections. The important thing is that your crack is made "stable" so that it does not grow. A stable crack is more important than a crack that still grows - in which case would result in a larger crack that could lead to windshield replacement (ouch). So if you fill in your crack or chip as much as possible, chances are it won't grow. If it does, then you should consult a professional windshield repair service. Tip: After the resin dries, carefully score the surface of the dried excess resin with a razor blade (but be careful to leave the impact area alone). Then, using some household tape (I used scotch tape), just lift off the excess dried resin. For the impact area, just make sure it's completely filled and dried. Otherwise, touch it up with small drops of resin, letting it dry, until it's nicely filled.
