  • Radiantly Good!
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed the 1st volume of Radiant Black. Interesting characters, beautiful artwork, and a well written story with a huuuge plot twist a few issues in. The comic definitely did its job, I am hooked and want to keep going.

  • How did I miss out on this?
Format: Kindle
Instant love. I guess those two chosen words say it all. These words are associated with a feeling I felt often in my 40+ years of collecting. The first time was when I discovered Spider-Man, closely followed by Batman. I was 8 then. I remember feeling this for the new X-Men, Claremont's run. I remember this too when picking up Valiant's titles like Shadowman, Archer and Armstrong, XO-Manowar and their take on Magnus: Robot Fighter and Turok, then a dinosaur hunter. Throw in some Legion of Super-Heroes (5YL, Bendis) and you can start having a mental picture of what I like. Radiant Black checks all my boxes. Great characters, cool powers, a rather unorthodox debut and a few good twists. This is world building and it seems they are doing just that. I don't think the art is the best there is, but it is dynamic and the coloring takes it up quite some levels. It just makes everything blend together quite well. Congrats to the art team. I just want to add the fact that at one moment it made me compare Radiant Black to Knights on Broadway (Jim Shooter). The premise is very similar. ... show more

  • The characters, scenes, and story were just OK and didn't seem strong enough to justify the praise.
Format: Paperback
I took notice of this book after it received an Eisner nomination for Best New Series. Like most Image books it has a great introductory price point. The writer (Kyle Higgins) also wrote Power Rangers for BOOM! Studios and it appears he was inspired to put his own twist of that story and marry it with some concepts that made Invincible work so well. The art was adequate and likely patterned after Ryan Ottley’s style from Invincible…but (coming from a big Invincible fan) this finished product just doesn’t resonate with me. The characters, scenes, and story were just "OK" and didn't seem fresh or strong enough to really justify its inclusion into the category. Comment ... show more

  • Fanfare for the Common Man
Format: Kindle
This is really well written, the heroes are so human and are walking through life like all of us when the mysterious power enters their lives and how they approach their powers based upon their own individual nature and nurture, this really captures the common man put in crucible of the uncommon situation, and at its essence isn't that why we read comics in the first place ... show more

  • radiant story!
Format: Kindle
Loved the first volume. The art is modern and crisp. The story is pretty good so far. My only wish is that this would be a slightly more mature line of comics.
