  • So far so good
Size: 17.5" x 78.7" Color: Matte Black
I got this to use as a non permanent way to black out the back of a fish tank. I’ve never used the static window film before and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty easy process to apply. I liked the lines on the backing so it’s easy to measure, line up and cut. I was only covering a small area worth of glass, so that may have played a part with the application, just the back of a 10 gallon tank. It’s only been on a few days but so far it’s staying in place and doesn’t seem to be lifting anywhere. Worked well to black out the back of my fish tank so far. ... show more

  • Good product but difficult to separate film
Size: 17.5" x 118" Color: Matte Pure
The film itself is good quality and the instruction is clear. I like the backing of the film has grid lines to make it easy for cutting. It took about 5 minutes for the installation by one person if you take accurate measurement and spray enough water on the glass surface and the film. However, peeling the film off is super painful, took 15+ minutes if lucky. I have used scotch tape per the FAQ and even tried packaging tape and still very difficult to pull the film apart. So peeling the film is the most time consuming part. Hence taking 1 star away. Installing the film is very easy and you can easily take the film off and adjust if you make a mistake since it only uses water as the adhesive. I used a squeegee to smooth out all the bubbles and wipe over the surface with a paper towel to ensure no bubbles or dry spot. ... show more

  • This stuff is great as Aquarium Backing
Size: 17.5" x 78.7" Color: Matte Black
Used this to place a black backing on a 55 gallon aquarium. Looks beautiful. Much easier to apply than I thought it was going to be. The aquarium is a glass tank with plastic rim along the top and bottom. The manufacturer and YouTube videos tell you to cut it 1 inch large and then trim it after applying it. I ignored that advice and cut it precisely to size. This worked great. It fit perfectly between the top and bottom rim and the sides. Make sure the glass is clean. Before applying the film to the clean glass, soak the glass and the side of the film that will contact the glass with soapy solution (a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dish soap. I used Dawn.). Separate the film from the protective coating. It helps to place a piece of strong tape like packing tape on either side and pull them apart. Place the soaked film on the soaked glass and position it exactly. While holding the film in place, squeegee from the center outward, first one side then the other. I used a 6 inch plastic squeegee. As water is pushed from between the film and the glass the film will adhere to the glass. Keep squeegeeing until the film is firmly adhered and there is no air or accumulation of water under the film. This stuff beats the heck out of tape on background or painting the tank. ... show more

  • Steep learning curve but good if you can get it right
Size: 35.4" x 78.7" Color: Silver
First and foremost I'm an idiot because I thought I was buying static cling film and not a sticky tint-type film. These two products appear one on top of the other in the Rabitgoo store and the text made me think I was choosing the cling-type. My fault for not recognizing they were different. I went with this brand specifically because I'd used some of their other film and it's been absolutely perfect for over 5 years. 3 stars overall because this stuff is kind of a nightmare to deal with but looks great if you can get it right. I wanted to cover storm door glass to fend off the afternoon sun. After cleaning the glass twice and liberally spraying the film and window with water I carefully applied the film to the bottom half of the door. The biggest bubbles were easily worked out with a squeegee and credit card but almost immediately I realized something seemed wrong with some of the tiny bubbles. They had white rings around the edges and wouldn't move like the water bubbles did. Hoping for the best I thought the heat might help these bubbles come out so gave it a day and tried again to work them out, but no luck. Half the glass looked absolutely perfect but the other half was plagued with these bubbles. From inside they weren't all that horrible, but when looking at the mirrored side from outside it looked like a disaster. Unfortunately this is not a peel and restick product and I hadn't ordered enough to redo the bottom and finish the top so I ultimately ended up peeling the bottom off and going with a totally different product. I'm not happy about wasting money but I don't think it was the product that was at fault. If I had enough product I definitely would have tried again but didn't want to sink more money into something I couldn't be sure would work. ... show more

  • Great for bathrooms
Size: 35.4" x 78.7" Color: Matte Pure
I wanted a clean look for my bathroom window and closet, so no dusty blinds or curtains. I have full size windows in both. The daylight still comes in nicely for natural light, and while you can tell someone is walking by at night, you cannot see features, so naked strolls from shower to bedroom won’t shock the neighbors. (You CAN make out details if body parts are touching the window, so, ehem, <coff>) In the past, I’ve purchased a cling that was more paper-like, so the trick to get the backing off with two pieces of scotch tape worked well, but not with this vinyl-the tape doesn’t stick to it, so the “pull apart” method doesn’t work. I can’t find the paper type anywhere anymore (20 years ago in a former house) so I guess only vinyl is made now. I found it easier to cut it a tiny bit bigger and tear a corner a little bit. This allowed the backing to separate easily. I love that this has grid lines! Foolproof sizing. You can use plain soapy water to install, or buy the Gila kit-but that’s not necessary. (By the way, Gila brand runs about $45 bucks a roll, so get this instead) Removal is easy too, just re-soap and pull off. I do not know how this will do after a steamy shower-I haven’t moved to our new bathroom yet-but since it’s advertised to be able to put it on shower doors, it should be fine, as long as you don’t peel it while damp. I highly recommend. Tools needed are dish soapy water-either wiped on or sprayed on, scissors, Exacto knife or blade cutter, some type of scraper to ease out bubbles-can also be a towel. ... show more
