This thing is great! This is a genuine R36S console running on a v21 board. This device comes preloaded with the necessary software (ArkOS) to get your games (which should be sourced by you ultimately) up and running quickly with a little bit of technical knowhow. The device itself feels pretty solid. The plastic body is a beautiful translucent blue finish, harking back to the days of the 90's and early 2000's when high tech actually let you see what was going on inside. The device itself is relatively compact, which does mean the button layout is a bit cramped and ultimately can be a bit difficult for bigger hands. It's not the worst I've ever experienced, but it definitely takes a little adjusting if you're used to anything on the larger side. The screen is really the most surprising here, especially at this price point. It's surprisingly bright, the resolution is impressive, and the fact that it's an ips panel at this price point is astonishing. I would give it the highest of marks, but my device did arrive with a single dead pixel very near the center of the screen. Thankfully it's not a stuck-off pixel, so there's no random little black fleck, but it's a stuck-on state pixel, so it's usually just exceedingly bright on darker screens and once you notice it, it's hard not to. For colorful fast paced games though, it fades but it's still a bummer. The battery is alright. Mine needed a little bit of conditioning to really hit the targets quoted and reasonably expected from the device. This to me makes sense, sometimes these cells do sit for a while and need a little workup to get back to peak performance. Expect 2-4 hours of gaming when playing the classics and cut that time down significantly if you plan to move into more modern titles if you can get them running properly. Out of the box, newer titles tend to struggle, so you might need to do some research to get the drivers and dependencies setup correctly. The device comes pre-installed with a generic SD card with titles. You can easily just use these if you don't want to set anything up, or you can install a second SD card for saves and additional titles. I strongly advise cloning the included SD card so you have a working copy of the OS image on hand as intended for the device on a more reliable SD card, as the included card is not from a reputable brand. This device does not have in-built wifi, so connections and data transfers will need to be done with adapters through the USB-C data port on the bottom. The device does have two, one is intended for power, the other for data. A headphone jack is located on the bottom between the USB-C ports, which is a nice touch. The speaker, located centrally beneath the screen, is adequate though can distort at high volumes. Don't expect it to reproduce modern audio accurately, but the bit and chip tunes from older titles sound perfectly fine.

Some of the games don't work. One of the WWE didn't work at all. The other one didn't have no sound or music. Honestly it looked like it was made cheat. It's not worth buying.

What did I get myself into? I was just looking for a handheld console that would play one of my wife's favorite games, "Frogger". Yes, it will, but ... Do a web search to learn about R36S. R36S is a type of inexpensive gaming platform. There is a lot of information about R36S game consoles on many web sites. The R36S console appears to be a popular product for retro gaming hobbyists. R36S is a model with multiple manufacturers. R36S consoles appear to be pretty much alike as far as hardware goes, and pretty similar with software. A card in the box for this product says, "We offer Comprehensive Support" and a "Quick Start Video", a "Detailed Illustrated Guide", product warranty service and a troubleshooting guide. It doesn't tell you who "we" are or where "we" can be found. There is no manufacturer information. I cannot find who you would contact. You will need to rely on one of the third-party web sites for use and troubleshooting information. You may be interested in the R36S platform. Is this particular product the R36S platform you want? After an hour, I could say "yes, do you have a particular platform in mind?" I found Simpsons. I couldn't start the game. I found "World Soccer" (2 or four players). I started the game. Couldn't exit the game. It turns out that Select+Start is the answer. Zelda is supposed to be included. I did see Donkey Kong. I believe I could set this up as a handheld Frogger game by adding one of the many implementations of Frogger to the Favorites screen.
