  • They're brakes, they stop. What do you expect?
Other than the smell of the paint burning off during the break-in/bedding process (whatever you prefer to call it) the paint will be scraped and burned off which will smell awful for the first few drives following the install. Other than that as long as you have the correct tools and enough patience to do it right (Its a volkswagen, we all hate the engineers who've obviously never turned a wrench in their lives) they perform well and stop like youd expect brakes to stop. Time will tell if they will last as long as O.E. spec brakes did (i got 72,000 miles out of my factory brakes, which technically still had life left in the pads. Rotors were grooved which is what prompted the brake change. These were cheaper than buying oem parts from vw direct and they seem to perform as well as if not better than O.E. brake hardware. These do also include the brake pad sensor if your car requires that connection (mine did not require this, I just cut the connector off). Think they're worth buying if your if need of replacing your factory brakes. They fit without issue and I think the black hub looks better than the rusty look all brakes develop after so long. Minus volkswagen being volkswagen they went on just like any other brake job, nothing too complicated. MAKE SURE YOU OWN A SET OF TRIPLE SQUARE SOCKETS for the rear brakes. ... show more

  • My VW stops like a Porsche I’ve owned
No joke these are the best brake rotors I’ve ever ordered. The little VW I have handles amazing now and surprised how better it turns when you hit the brakes and it slows down the car to make a turn rather than not slowing the car and just getting a bunch of body roll. No squeaks whatsoever so I will assume all those squeak comments are from people that do not understand you have to use grease on the slides when you do your brakes. It overall stops fast AF and I do not have any dust at all! Keep in mind it will brake like sheeit until the brake pads wear the black paint off the rotors. It will feel like you don’t have brakes but once it’s worn off after 20 miles, the brakes will brake amazing! I would not rush through the job. Clean everything and lubricate the slides and allow 20 miles of driving around and basically stomping on the brakes to wear the black paint off then enjoy! ... show more

  • Coated Black
Just remember this isn’t dyed black iron, where the pad contacts rotor will become shiny after first drive.

  • Great but a heads up
After installation, there was a terribly loud rubbing sound. To be certain all was installed correctly, I stopped in a shop to have it inspected. All was good. The sound was gone by the time I drove 5 miles and hit the brakes about 100 times. The shop removed all wheels, inspected and indicated that there's a break in period with slotted rotors that can last up to 1000 miles. No issues since. I'd buy them again. ... show more
