I purchased this more for the heat output reviews rather than for the ambiance of the flames. I was looking to heat a 3 season room and after purchasing and trying out two other heaters I decided to go with a “fireplace design”. This puts out more heat than any of the other portable heaters I tried (all in the price range of $100-$150) The heat output is pretty good for what it is. Nothing insane but I believe it will be ok for what I want it for. It has the option of surface mounting which is what I had planned on but it’s too thick for that so I took the extra time to cut into the wall and mount it. I’m glad I did. It looks great. ( you will need run electrical to mount an electrical box inside the wall for the plug if you go with the inside mount option or tap off an existing outlet) The flames are nice. Not realistic looking (which is fine ) , but still cool with the different color combinations. My kids constantly want to turn it on and look at it. Worth the money spent.

We ordered and installed the R.W.FLAME Electric Fireplace 50 inch based on the positive reviews, size, and pricing - and were not disappointed. First, the positives: For the price we paid, this is an excellent quality and functioning fireplace. It has adjustable heat/fan levels, flame color, bed color, flame speed, and more. The fan is whisper quiet. We had read a comment about the fan noise, but this was not our experience. The entire assembly is solid and well designed with an attractive look to the front glass plate. Also the shipping package design was very good. No breakage due to a very well shock-absorbed design. Now the negatives: The instructions are less than ideal. If one is generally handy with kits and assembly projects, this will not be a big deal. Nowhere in the instructions or the advertising are the 'rough-in' dimensions provided. The dimensions in the advertising are what I used for the rough-in size, and that was a mistake on my part. If one is handy with framing and construction, it will be easy to overcome this. We found that a measurement of 17" height by 44-3/4" width is a good choice for the rough-in dimensions, as we mounted our fireplace in a built-in stud-wall. See the attached photo of our rough-in design. The other comment is that the mount design is either via a rear-mounted bracket (included) or two rear holes. A flange mount is what I expected and preferred for ease of mounting. We used the two holes and added appropriate structure behind this portion of the fireplace. Other than those comments, we are extremely pleased with this purchase and how well it works. Now on to the finishing carpentry work.

The media could not be loaded. This is the second fireplace insert that I have purchased. I installed the first one into a fireplace opening that was a non-functioning fireplace (condemned by professionals), and it fit into the opening perfectly along with the framework that was already installed. I installed this one into my current home that has a fireplace, but needed a little more alteration in order to make it "fit" properly. I purchased the 36" wide which fit exactly perfectly horizontally. I needed to build a simple frame to fill in the top and bottom as well as make a brace for the back where I could screw in the insert so it would hold securely. The insert works just as expected, and I love all of its features. It allows for different colors of flames as well as rock colors and it even has a variable heater that puts out just the right amount of heat as needed on my Texas winter evenings. The installation can either be hung on a wall, or built into the wall or fireplace (as I did), but either way, the instructions are easy to follow and not all that difficult for a person with some simple carpentry skills. I highly recommend this product as it is easy to install, has many different features, and is a beautiful alternative to a dusty, smoky, dangerous wood burning fireplace in your home. By the way, I would not have purchased a second one of these if the first one did not impress me so much. I am 100% PLEASED with this product, and I believe you will be also. Enjoy!

We bought this to install on the back side on our kitchen island in our condo. Original plan was to recess it, but we would have had to re-route some plumbing and electrical. Opted instead to surface mount it. I used screw in anchors in the drywall and the install went smoothly and looks good. I used part of the box to make a guide and taped it to the wall with plumbers tape. Used a laser level to ensure it was straight and drilled small pilot holes. All told it took 35 minutes. The unit sticks out about 4” but really is unobtrusive. I may build a frame around it later to finish it off further, but it looks quite good. Does not put out as much heat as I expected but it is good enough and adds a nice ambience to the room.
