We recently purchased a new house and so we bought 3 of these—one at a time over a period of 2 months. The first 2 were a queen and a full in the “old” model. When I saw the price going up and up and up, and the “newer” model (this one) at the price I paid for my last one a few weeks earlier, I went for the “newer” model to save the $20 increase. Newer is not better. The old model includes two handles sewn into each long side of the mattress (4 total)—this model does not have any handles at all. The handles on the older model (which is still available for $20 more) have been very convenient, since we’ve had to move the mattress a couple of times. The older model is also a little prettier — if that matters for a mattress that you don’t actually see very often. Otherwise, they appear to be very similar. These are still a great deal—even with the ever increasing price. You cannot beat the convenience of Amazon delivering them to your door. It’s also great(!) to avoid the salesperson following you around the mattress store. And they are very comfortable. I would say they are all medium firm. Not too soft and not too hard. Don’t unroll the mattress until you are ready to let it expand/inflate. Both this one and the last one I bought started to inflate a bit the moment I unrolled them—even though I did not pierce the inner sealed plastic. Also, when you place this on your box spring or platform bed to unroll it, the part that shows is the bottom of the mattress. So after it’s expanded to its full size, you have to flip the mattress so that the top is up. It only takes a couple of minutes to expand to its full size after you cut down the side of the sealed plastic. I do recommend this mattress. I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that my review helped you! ... show more

I have been sleeping on my living room couch for 4.5 years because my bedroom mattress was so uncomfortable that it made me cry and injured me daily. I have Hypermobility type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, so an unsupportive mattress means horrible body pain and waking up with dislocated hips, knees, shoulders, and elbows. and yet a mattress that is too firm causes me severe joint and spine pain. the ideal mattress has to be supportive enough to keep my joints together in my sleep while also being cushioned enough to gently cradle those sensitive joints. this mattress in a box is perfect and the price made it affordable in our budget. my husband and I unfurled it from the box today and it poofed up really fast. It is so comfy. It doesn't hurt me and my shoulders don't dislocate the second I lay down flat on it like they did on the previous mattress. I'm ecstatic. I hope it stays this comfy as it continues to poof up fully. If you have hEDS, this is worth purchasing. If you have back problems, this is worth purchasing. I have scoliosis, spinal stenosis, permanently damaged sacroiliac joints, arthritis, EDS hypermobility, and 2 segments of congenitally fused vertebrae causing me back pain and this mattress is the most comfortable thing I've laid on in over a decade. ... show more
