    • Before using re-assemble the boom arm hinge!

I just received these and they appear to be a good value, They are metal except for the components which loosen/tighten to provide adjustment. Most of the complaints I saw were related to the boom arm moving under load. The pair that I received were not put together correctly at the factory. If you've done any work as a gaffer you know that the boom should always be configured so that under load it will move in the same direction as the tightening knob being turned clockwise. This prevents the knob from loosening and will actually cause it to tighten slightly when under load. As they came from the factory these boom arms were configured to be under load in a counter-clockwise direction which will cause the knob to loosen under load. Disassemble and reassemble -so that the load (microphone) provides a clockwise motion. This should resolve most issues with the boom rotating under a reasonable load. It would be mice if all of the movable joints were made if steel but if that's what you want go buy a more expensive version. With reasonable handling these should be good for studio work. ... show more

The item arrived quickly, but the travel case that these are packaged had a white mold on it. I was a bit scared to even bring these into the house because mold is so hard to get rid of, and you have to be really careful with it. Also, the metal connectors on the strap were rusted. Apparently this package was exposed to water/moisture. I am giving it three stars because the stands were ok and function as expected. ... show more

I’ve bought several tripods over the years, always under $20. When I saw a set of two stands for under $40, WITH THE PYLE NAME ON IT, I thought to myself “How can Pyle sell tripods for the same price as competitors non-name brands?” So, I bought the set expecting the same flimsy structure as the tripods I bought in the past, I was wrong and should have trusted more in the Pyle name! Not only are these tripods made of high quality metal and very sturdy, but the double-set came with a carrying bag, FOUR mike holders, TWO 5/8” adaptors, and two booms!
