I needed a small portable PA speaker for a small outdoor event so though I would give this one a go. Great choice! The speaker has a good sound and works well outdoors, plus it is light and easy to carry around from spot to spot. It won't work for anything and everything, but it works well enough for small venues with a few people or outdoor spaces when everyone is within 30 feet of it. The microphone that comes with it works...but it is not great. That said, it connects without needing any other cables or devices, so if you aren't going to use it a ton...it will probably get the job done. If you do have the means, and you want a better sound, I recommend hooking up a better mic system using the Line in AUX jack. Speaking of which...my biggest annoyance with this speaker is the incredibly loud voice that tells you the unit is on, and which mode it is in. No way to turn it down...and it is LOUD. So if you are going to use this speaker, get it set up before anyone arrives, or place it horn down onto the ground anytime you turn it on or change modes. And on the topic of modes, I have had no problems connecting to this speaker via Bluetooth. Last, the battery life has been good. I have had this thing working for several hours of continuous use on multiple occasions with no problem whatsoever. This speaker has become a useful friend when working on projects outside the house, as it provides me with the stream of beats I need to be productive in the backyard. Sounds good, works good. You need to buy a separate mic with connecting BT device, like BIETURN or TONOR. coz the mic they give u for free is very ineffective, poor connection, repeated breaks in sound. The speaker is perfect, quickly connects to BT. We use it for lectures to participants in a hall, sound is perfect. Charge time is 4 hours and it goes for 5 hours easily for us. ... show more

    • EXACTLY WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR!!

PROS: MP3 sound quality was EXCELLENT both from our San-Disk 32-gig flash-drive & from our Acer Laptop, despite some of the other reviews we read. Extremely light (under 7 lbs.) featuring a recessed top carry handle. Plugged it in as soon as we received it to refresh the rechargeable batteries. We don't use our cellphones for music, so can't comment on that feature (it does have a line in aux jack for that option however). Digital view screen toggles from Line-In to Bluetooth to USB function, and features a repeat songs option if desired. Fast Forward or Reverse options as well. Wireless microphone worked great (as long as you're not directly in front of the speaker), and with a little practice, we were instant Karaoke singing sensations in our own minds.....love that you can adjust the volume from the music source AND the microphone separately. Also has a separate 1/4" Mic input if you wanted to add additional microphones to it. This system gets plenty LOUD for an outdoor backyard event, pool party, or a community room! We are seniors that have never connected our laptop to any Bluetooth device before........ so we discovered you MUST power on the PYLE PSBT65A and toggle the display button to read "blue" - THEN let your PC's Bluetooth settings pair with it. Unit also has a tripod insertion crevice built-in on the bottom. As with any rechargeable batteries, if you aren't going to be using it for an extended period of time, it's a good idea to plug the PYLE Speaker in occasionally, just to keep them from fully discharging over time. CONS: Wish it had a "shuffle" feature when using a Flash Drive - BUT our laptop shuffles our playlists on it's own. ... show more

Absolute rubbish sound. I rarely write reviews. I can honestly say my cell phone sounds better. Granted this paired easily and is loud but has ZERO bass.

I have some background in sound reinforcement. I knew going in to this that I was not to expect a lot out of a powered speaker of any sort that was priced as low as this, but for it's intended use, it looked like a good one take a gamble on. I bought it to assist with hosting some small meetings where a live group would be interacting with other participants on Zoom. For the most part it works okay. For this application, it is probably loud enough, but I would not anticipate it to do well for much more than a small group setting. I have used on at least two events. Coming out of those experiences, there are some concerns about the Bluetooth (BT) connectivity. I will admit, some of this could be some of the other equipment I am using (a 5+ year old Dell notebook running Ubuntu), BUT, my experience thus far is that the device is difficult to connect to the BT and in a tight situation it might leave you hanging. Reconnecting it once powered off is equally challenging. I even once found it easier to have the computer to forget the device completely and re-pair it. When connected, I found BT range not particularly good. I had to play around with the location of the speaker to get it to work, even less than 10 feet from the audio source. Also, the speaker announces to you and everyone in the vicinity, "BT CONNECTED". It is about the loudest thing I have ever heard come out of the speaker yet. At the last meeting I used it for, there was an extended time where there was no BT audio coming from the laptop, and out of nowhere, the speaker announces very loudly, right in the middle of the meeting, "BT DISCONNECTED". I am guessing there is either a time out feature on the unit, or it's on my laptop. Either way, it was very disruptive and while I kind of wanted to reconnect BT to get our Zoom audience the ability to communicate with our live audience, I definitely did NOT want the dang thing to make any more loud announcements. I turned it off after that. For now on, I believe I am going to try running a line in to it and avoid the BT connectivity issues altogether. The wireless mic is a cool feature with its own separate volume control. However, DO NOT be fooled into believing it has anything close to the level of quality of a professional wireless hand held that costs hundreds of dollars. One thing that was noticed in my experience thus far is the mic has what I would consider to be a unidirectional pickup pattern. What this means is that you have to be quite deliberate in your mic placement. It does not pick up well off axis, meaning it's not going to do much holding it up next to your chest. I constantly had to get participants to bring the mic up to their chins. I know almost all of this review is of a critical nature.
