  • WOW just WOW
Model: S-1503W
The media could not be loaded. So a quick background story about me. I have been a wedding DJ for over 15 years. I have one of the larger companies in the industry. We do over a thousand events every year. Most all weddings are less than 300 people in my region, generally speaking they're less than 200. I have had many PAs over the years as well as my guys have always been free to buy whatever gear they want as long as it is capable of handling crowds up to 300. Anything over that we have to bring more gear we have a separate price for it's a bit of a different story typically proms for other larger social events not typically weddings. Our marketing is directly towards weddings so it's like 95% of what we do. Before the Exoton released you really only had a few options of speakers that were all white unless you painted your own or something. Each one of these options were very expensive. And a lot of DJs will tell you that column array systems Don't sound as good as traditional speakers and they cost twice as much. Now I tend to agree however it does depend on the speaker and various other things. But nobody can deny the fact that two EV50s in white look really good next to a DJ booth. When I went and bought my Bose pro 16 I tested a bunch of speakers up next to it in the same price range and it sounded by far the best and I absolutely love that setup But you're talking 4 grand+ for two of them and they make you buy the slipcover separately for $75 a piece. The exoton is an absolute game changer. Not only do they look really good in all white they actually blew me away on how good they sound. Again I have heard many different PAs over the years and I've done no less than a thousand weddings and when I tell you that these speakers sound good for this particular type of event trust me this is no BS. Initially I used the Bluetooth connectivity to test out the quality and to be fair the streaming quality to the Bluetooth wasn't that great. I'm not sure where the problem was but I wouldn't lean on the Bluetooth. I didn't have any connection issues or anything like that It was just more of a matter of sound quality. But when I plug them into my system that's where the speakers really shined. I honestly cannot recommend these speakers enough and I really think that if you're working events that are crowds less than 300 you cannot go wrong with the exoton! Anybody who is saying you should go out and buy the EV50s which are Three times the price Don't understand math. Let's say you bought three of them You're still right at or under the cost of one EV 50 so now you have two speakers and a backup plan. If the room is really big you can run a wireless XLR and put your third speaker in the back of the room that'll cover your sound from all around. Just know that you're going to see more affordable prices for these expensive column array systems in the future because XO time is going to put these people on their heels it's not only a game changer because the barrier to entry is considerably lower but also when a lot of people are buying these they aren't buying EVs. If you're on the fence just Get you a pair and don't even think about it, I promise it will be worth it. Now just a minor con I want to throw in there just to have full disclosure. The most unfortunate thing about this PA system is it does not allow for you to EQ on the speaker it gives you only preset options which are fine at the end of the day but I would have much rather had an EQ system to be able to adjust the sound as I see fit. For me I always like to tweet the Lowe's pretty low and bump the highs and mids a little bit during cocktail and dinner and for most of this formalities like toast and stuff like that this makes not only my announcement sound clearer but also the toast can be hurt clear as well and you don't have to deal with any muffling base Yes I can EQ it on my board but it was just something I always did with my bose system and I could get it to sound perfect no problem. Now I could use the presets on the back and switch it out and stuff like that and that's fine and dandy but still I would like to have that micromanage level ability that I've always had with any other system I've ever used. The only other slight con would be that these guys are heavy lol and I wish there was an easier way to tote them like as if they had a handle on the top and not just on the side. You basically have to bear hug these things anytime you want to move them it's fine for me but I can see some older gentlemen struggling with it and I'm no spring chicken lol so who knows how long I want to deal with these things but compared to traditional tops they are about the same weight as most of those you'll come across if you're using 15s. So not a major con at the end of the day. Other than that I can't think of any other negative so far. The biggest question and concern a lot of people have is how's the longevity with these things and that's an answer I can't give you at this point in time but I will tell you that it would take me buying six of them to make up for two EV50s so when you consider that maybe just buy that extra third speaker and now you have a backup plan in case anything goes wrong. And if I ever have something go wrong I will definitely jump in here and update you guys on how that process goes. This is actually the main reason I bought them through Amazon because I know Amazon will take care of me. To anyone aspiring to be a DJ go for it It is an excellent side hustle and these speakers make it even easier to get into the industry at a higher caliber than I was able to start at 15 years ago. Clients today book based on looks more than anything they want to see what your setup looks like how you sound at an event and that sort of thing. Instagram and TikTok really make the difference now because that's how people getting married experience the world so you need to cater to that and drop content constantly and having a good looking set up helps immensely and that's where the exoton comes into play. You're basically going to save over two grand so you can take that extra money and spend it on a good DJ controller and bad good I mean over $1,000 and you can buy you a nice DJ facade or DJ booth or podium if you prefer. And you'll still have money left over. ... show more

  • Best speaker under $600
Model: S-1503W
I currently own QSC, RCF, Yorkville, and JBL PA speakers, but I never owned an Array Speaker system. I wanted to try these out and so far, they exceed my expectations for 1/3 the price of my other speakers. I compared them to my QSC K12’s and RCF PS speakers (no subs) and these Exotons have more bass. They sound good, but not great. A bit on the bright side, but a little EQing helps it out. The Exotons are the best bang for the buck. If you can’t afford $3000+ gear…these will not disappoint. For $600, they are amazing. ... show more
