I bought it for the following reasons: affordable price, paper cone, sealed back, with a pretty impressive 100W RMS power and no grid on the front side unlike a Goldwood GM-65/8 I bought to replace my old 3 way "Radiotechnika S90" speaker's midrange driver 15GD-11A (made in USSR) result excellent replacement! There is no reason to compare, they are different classes: Pyle Pro PDMR5-5" is a well done midrange driver with great sound quality; 15GD-11A is single piece of metal, paper and rubber with sound like a phone handset. So I'm very pleased with my purchase. Now I'll get rid of my "Raduotehnika S90" and will build my own 3-wey speaker cabinet, definitely it will be with Pyle Pro PDMR5-5" *** (3 month later) I already done speaker cabinet and the result you can see on the customer images. I use crossover 2-nd order with slope 12 dB/octave. Crossover frequency points: 750 Hz and 5 Khz. (bandwidth could be slightly wider, but I left a some margin) Frequency response is almost linear and balanced as far as I can hear (opposed my previous driver, which had terrible resonance overtone at 4,5 khz.) Sensitivity 92dB is more than enough for most of cases. I think this product has a good price/quality ratio and I would recomend it for most of buyers. sorry for my bad English ... show more

Had a JVC-SP333 with crapped out mids and tweeters that needed replacing on a budget. Fit nicely into the build. These are great for the price, but are definitely not audiophile quality. I have a pair of Aperion Allaires and they sound fantastic. Wish they were louder, but the Allairrs are so clear compared to these. I use my Allaires as primary speakers and when I listen to music and need more power I turn on my rebuilt JVC-SP333 with these Pyles to fill out the space more with sound. Its a great combination and I cant go back to one set of speakers alone, but If i had to choose one or the other the Allairs win because they sound so clear. I spent about $50 on both JVC cabs to replace mids and tweeters. I am satisfied because of the price point and how loud they get without distortion. The Allaires unfortunately as good as they sound, get distorted at highest volume. These can go above the Allaire's in loudness and clarity, but only at higher volumes where the Allaires start to crap out. Seller got them to me just as fast as amazon prime, i was surprised. Dont know what the heck everyone else is doing to their speakers or how bad of a set up they have, but I hooked these up to the speaker cabinet, the receiver and jammed these things the heck out. No distortion or blown speakers. ... show more

I put these with my Yamaha system with Bose in front and made boxes for these 5" speakers for the bottom front for that really crisp vocal pop. I'm a happy camper, they work so well like this. No distortion at high volume and I run hard metal through them. Perfect fit, great value for the price. I look forward to working on my next project, ill be back.. ... show more

I know this is a cheap mid range sub.. but I didn't realize it was this cheap !!! The sound quality is garbage. It moves no air at all whatever the cone, rubber. coil are made of they don't move at all. You can watch a good woofer flex and inhale and exhale with the bass.. Not this speaker, no air movement or anything , and sound Quality is garbage. People saying this thing sounds great haven't had a good pair of speakers yet obviously. Cheap as hell... you get what you pay for with this mid range. ... show more

These speakers were not what I needed to replace older, Bookshelf, 'back surround sound' speakers There was nothing wrong with them, I just didn't notice the frequency resp. (450-7khz) & they sounded horrible with the tweeter already installed. Like hearing in a tin can, even sounded like an echo. However! I purchased the PDMW5 speakers, with a frequency resp. of 70-7khz, set the crossover to 80hz... and OMG, the sound is Amazing! Full, rich, highs & lows giving me the best sound I've ever had! My wife thought I was crazy, & that the PDMR5's were just fine, but when I hooked these up and turned up the db's, even she was impressed with the difference. Great speakers, & exceptional performance for their size & value. I would highly recommend Pyle speakers. Would be helpful if they had a buying guide app on their website that guided us through decision process that helped us select the right frequency resp, 4/8ohm decision and wattage. ... show more
