The rubber backing keeps it in place. It doesn't move around unless you move it. I live in an area with a lot of snow and it doesn't remain wet or cause the floor to get wet. I was so impressed, I ordered a second for my backdoor. The only drawback is that it is folded and takes a little bit of time to get the folds out. The dirt trapping texture genuinely works, floors near the back door are noticeably cleaner since we put this down. It lays perfectly flat, and the non-slip backing actually lives up to the claim. No bunching, no sliding, no repositioning after the dogs barrel through it. Maintenance is easy too.
