We absolutely love this pergola and could not be happier! We get so many compliments on it! It was fairly easy for my husband to assemble on his own - I helped him as he was getting it set in place but he did all of the assembly by himself in a few hours. The retractable canopy is awesome. It might be a little hard to tell from the photos, but the canopy slopes down on the outsides so rainwater can run off. There is still minimal pooling but nothing a quick poke with a broomstick (or a finger) can't manage! The canopy does have a strap to keep it in place when it is extended. There are also clamps that keep the canopy in place - They were a little loose but my husband was able to tighten them by just slightly bending them into a tighter c shape. 3D printed hooks keep string lights on without interfering with the canopy retraction at all. Our deck went from being bland and barely functional to being a magical oasis. When the canopy is flapping in the wind, we like to pretend that we are on a ship, listening to the wind in the rigging. As for the size, we got the 11x13 for our 11.5x14 deck and biased it as far as we could into a corner, so there is an uncovered area around part of the perimeter which is great for plants to get a little extra sun and rain. We could not be happier with our purchase!

I have bought now 3 of these total.. my first one was fantastic!! it was exactly as expected and easy to put together. I got the 16x12' version which did need 2 people to stand up but very easy. The first one we bought was perfect.. and the right pieces and parts, all fit together exactly as instructed, it even came with 1 of every part as a spare just in case. The Second i bought actually had a broken plastic piece, when i contacted the customer services they asked for a picture and one i sent it they sent me out not 1 but 2 of the damaged item at no cost to me. FANTASTIC. My 3rd one was kind of an oddity, the poles were a little to long (easy trim) and about 2 months after one fo the rollers broke. I contacted them again expecting to have to buy replacment parts. They simply asked for the part number and again at no cost to me shipped out a full set of rollers. I cant say enough good about this product and company, i have my first one going on 3 years now and it still looks like new!!! the other 2 i expect to last about the same. High quality, Easy to setup, Great customer service.. Not something i can say about many products these days.

The pergola looks good once it is set up, and overall I am happy with how it turned out. It gives the outdoor area a more finished look and feels sturdy enough that it should last a couple of years with normal use. My main issue is the base. The design is not very good and could have been thought out better. It made that part of the setup more frustrating than it needed to be. I also was not very impressed with the curtains. They are usable, but they did not feel or look as good as I expected. Apart from those two issues, it is a pretty good pergola. I like the overall appearance and function, but the base and curtains keep it from being a five-star product.

This pergola is great it allow some of us to sit in the sun while the other side can sit in the shade. Pretty easy to put together. I had a friend who does construction do it for me. I am not handy! It took about 3 &1/2 to 4 hours. At time he needed my help standing it up. Other than that he put it together easily.

I am beyond impressed with this product - from the design, to the assembly process, to the customer service! Here are the key points: - It looks great! It's lightweight, but sturdy, with a wonderful finish on the aluminum and great quality canvas on the shade. Also, I was so happy to see that they don't use stickers that leave a residue on the product when you peel them off! BONUS POINTS! - It goes together easily! My husband and I were able to assemble it in less than 2 hours! Now, that being said, I'm one of those weirdos that enjoys assembling furniture in the dim light, with a glass of wine and some calming instrumentals on a Saturday night. It brings me calm when most people would be cursing everyone that thinks that Ikea is something other than a torture superstore. - The customer service was great! As said in a few other reviews - I received an incorrect piece, contacted the seller, and had a new one at my door before the week was through. They were prompt, helpful and communicative. - The only challenge we had during the whole process was getting the seal on the upright posts onto both the upper and lower sections in order to screw the support in. Not a huge deal though - just took a little more patience and elbow grease (luckily we had a fresh can ready). Honestly, I'm glad the seal fits that tightly! Just be prepared for a little annoyance and fingertip pain when you get to that part. THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU FOR ASSEMBLY: Don't tighten the screws on each step until all of them are in. I had no issues getting them aligned, didn't have to route out any holes to make them fit, I just got them all in place before I cranked down on the wrench. The parts are very well engineered, labeled consistently and come with very clear instructions. TL;DR: If you are looking for a pergola, this one is great quality at a great price.

It took my wife (age 76) and I (Age 77) about 8 hours to assemble this Pergola. Probably should have waited until the grandchildren came over but we wanted to see if we could do it. Anyway, It is a really nice pergola and satisfies our needs. The instructions could be better. A lot better. So read them several times before attempting to assemble it. Rather than attach the pergola legs to our paver patio we installed the legs into concrete planters using Tapcon screws and filled the planters with pea gravel for support. I read that another commenter used Post Bases (similar to these on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BGXT52DG/?coliid=IHJ7BTZKUL83I&colid=QNZWRZUP1YVJ&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1). I wish I had known about this as I feel it would make the unit more sturdy. However, our pergola held up well during recent storms. Overall we really like this pergola and hope that it gives us many years of service. There are a few cons I should mention. The cover for the Pergola is supposed to lock into 2 clips when extended. The clips we got are not flexible and it takes a lot of pressure to have the catch the cover. I am going to try putting magnets on the pergola frame rather than use the clips. Also, the cover has a strap attached to slide the cover open and closed. It works but it is annoying to have a strap hanging. I am going to add a metal ring to the cover and make a pole with a hook to open and close the cover. I can hide the pole when not in use. Another issue is if it rains when the cover is open the cover collects water which puts stress on the cover rods. We made a waterproof cover for the pergola cover to keep the rain out. Finally, when the cover is open any wind will move the cover. This fix - bungee cord the cover to the frame. Overall this is a great buy and with minor fixes is even better. I should mention that the customer service is 5 star. I had an issue with one part and customer service responded within a few hours and the issue got resolved. This is a first class company

For the cost, it’s a great addition to my back yard, HOWEVER, one of my beams came with a gash in it which seems to be an issue reading other reviews. I am also missing one of the rollers that the canopy attaches to in order to open and close the canopy, quite annoying since the step to assemble those is half way through the process (yes, I should have counted before beginning but honestly, what percentage of people actually do that). The instructions are okay but the step where it requires a separator to be added between the 2 posts doesn’t actually work in the 10x13 model (or at least it didn’t with mine). The screw holes are hard to line up when adding multiple pieces and part but not least, the black elastic loop they hold the canopy in place snapped so we had to rig it. The material for the canopy seems to be good quality, we will see how it holds up in the scorching Phoenix summer sun. I’m not convinced of the sturdiness of the structure but we will also see how it holds up once I anchor it in the ground.

Overall, I love the pergola! I will reiterate something I read in a couple other reviews regarding assembly. In step two, screws labeled J will not fit into the designated holes. We had to purchase/construct our own self tapping screws for these eight bolts in order to move on with construction. I plan on removing canopy for winter storage, however, this will not be a very user-friendly task. That could be easier to preserve the life of the canvas. But for the money, it is a cozy little section of deck.
