The structure is sleek looking and makes our backyard area look complete. We had no shade & wanted a way to keep our sofa cushions dry. This pergola does the trick. Love the louvers to adjust sun/shade. Pretty easy to assemble but you definitely need at least two people (sometimes three-four). We were inserting the louvers which is one of the last steps and at the very end, approximately 10 louvers would not snap in. I contacted customer service and they reached out to promptly correct the issue. After asking many questions they determined the best way to fix was to send me additional louvers. They were very helpful & I appreciated the follow up. It was pricey but worth it!

Not as heavy duty as I hoped but it’s still very sturdy, I hope it has longevity. It does offer easy clip placement for heavy duty string lights due to its design. Overall I’m pretty happy and it looks really clean

I'm one of this people who research everything to the nth degree before a purchase. In my search for the perfect pergola, I found they varies in price greatly. You can spend $1500 to well over $15K. I decided on this particular brand because they had a lot of reviews and they responded to presale inquiries in a timely manner. Since I live in Southern California, I didn't have to worry hurricanes or snow load Delivery - This package came in 5 boxes and was delivered in 2 days. There was no damage to the boxes, but there were a few bent pieces that didn't really bother me. Installation - I'm not particularly handy, but this took me and one other person about 6 hours to install. The instructions were not great, but it's fairly obvious is you're doing something wrong. Quality - this thing feels very solid and the louvers are all quite nice to open and close. The 11'x14' unit I purchased does not come with curtains, and Purple Leaf will not sell you accessories after the fact, but this was generally easy to work around. Caveats - There is no easy way to hang lights on the pergola without drilling,and nothing sticky will stay stuck very long, we ended up using zip ties to make things work. Lastly, this pergola is not waterproof. The middle beam is two pieces and during the last rain storm, water was leaking out of the seam like it was a rain gutter. This was disappointing as we thought we'd have respite from the rain under this pergola. We have tightened the screws, filled the seams with loctite, and wrapped it with water proof gorilla tape. Hopefully this fixes the issue, we won't know until the next rain comes, which could be awhile in Southern California. Overall for the price, the unit looks really good, is very solidly constructed and with after market rails and curtains we are pretty satisfied with the purchase. Minus 1 star for having the middle beam act as a rain gutter without being water proof.

Construction was easy enough, definitely need 2-3 people to construct safely. But really no that bad, total construction time was about 3 hours. Very pleased with the quality.

This pergola will give us the much needed shade for our back patio. It arrived sooner than expected. It was missing four pieces, so the seller was notified immediately. The four pieces were shipped to us promptly. The pergola is very attractive and the customer service was very good. Have only had it assembled for a week but, so far, very happy we bought it.

Our unit arrived with minor damage to two pillars and significant damage to one of the long rails and roof panels. Damage to the shipping box was evident as well. The roof rails package largely survived (all 58 slats were perfect), but one of the large panels had a good bit of damage, as shown in the photos). After going back and forth with Purple Leaf a few times (who offered increasing discounts to have the damage repaired locally), they finally shipped me a replacement for the entire box that contained the most-damaged part, claiming that they were out of stock for the single damaged part (though I suspect they're simply not equipped to ship individual replacement parts -- this stuff probably arrives already boxed from China, and they don't touch it.) Annoyingly, nearly *all* of the parts in the replacement box had some cosmetic damage (dings and scratches), including the part that I needed, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the first one, which looked like a forklift had run into it. To Purple Leaf's credit, they are responsive via Amazon messaging, and did relent when I pointed out that the $650 they ultimately offered "to have a local handyman fix it" was unlikely to pay for the repair of a painted, extruded aluminum part in this area. I just wish the replacement box had actually been inspected by someone prior to shipping. And I now have most of a box of very large parts that require disposal. Having finished building the structure, the engineering isn't bad. I ran into some small issues that were corrected with a mallet, and one of the fixed slats was oddly too short (despite everything else fitting correctly). Was corrected by adding some washers. A number of parts don't quite fit perfectly, and require a good deal of finessing to get holes to line up, and deal with poorly-tapped threads. Honestly, for about $3K, it's "okay." If you can deal with the inevitable shipping damage (even Purple Leaf finally conceded, "we afraid no logistics company could promise they could ship the package in perfect condition"), you'll save a little bit of money over having one built on site. However, dealing with the damage, delays, and ultimately giving up on receiving "perfect," parts, I can't give more than 3 stars. If Purple Leaf could fix the shipping issues, this would easily hit 4 stars, but I would advise buyers to hold off until they've released a "revised" product that promises better shipping.

Thoughtfully designed and great quality. Drainage system prevents everything underneath from getting wet as long as the louvers are closed. We are very happy we chose Purple Leaf. Took about 5-6 hours to fully assemble.
