No strong scent, no mess

Really happy with this litter! I love that it’s unscented because there’s no overwhelming artificial fragrance, but it still does a great job controlling odors. It clumps well, which makes scooping quick and easy, and it keeps the litter box feeling cleaner for longer. Definitely a solid everyday litter, especially if you or your cats are sensitive to strong scents.

Decent clumping litter

Clumps well, and does about as good a job on containing odor as most. Note, if you tend to get ammonia odor in your litter, I don't think this one will help much, as 1 extra day between cleaning and I smell the urine broken down into ammonia just as much as other brands.

Almost perfect

Having had to give up on the Dr. Elsey's litter, I searched just about every other option on Amazon, and read many, many reviews. So I'm grateful for all the reviewers who posted in such detail about this Tidy Cats Free & Clean Unscented litter. I was especially looking for comments on how fast and solidly it clumped, and the reviewers were right -- it clumps so quickly that cat wee doesn't have time to work it's way to the bottom of the litterbox, avoiding the dreaded cement-residue, and allowing the remaining litter to stay clean and dry. With the Dr. Elsey's litter, my cat's wee would end up creating solid, cement-like clumps on the bottom and sides of the box, making scooping very difficult and never resulting in a clean box. Every few days, I had to toss out the entire box of litter, wash the box and refill it, and I began to really dread the whole scooping/box-cleaning routine. For a few months there, I must have been one of Dr. Elsey's best customers. This Tidy Cats litter is on the lightweight side, but it's super-absorbent and creates clumps that essentially encapsulate cat wee so that it doesn't contaminate the rest of the litter. Only once since I changed to this litter did my cat urinate close to the side of the box, but the clump came away cleanly, and didn't leave a concrete slab on the side, as had happened regularly with the Dr. Elsey's litter. With this new litter, my cat doesn't find it necessary to dig down to the bottom of the box before doing her business. Now she just does it on the surface, then covers it, where it instantly clumps, making it very easy to scoop. The rest of the litter then remains clean and dry. Room service at the "Sands Hotel" is now so quick and easy! That said, this litter does track. Quite a bit. And because the granules are round, they tend to roll far and wide. And they're porous, so they pulverize if stepped on. But I'm happy enough to wield my handy-dandy Oxo standing broom and dustpan combo to sweep up rogue littler, rather than use a litter that might track less but requires brute strength for the scooping routine. I did fill the litter box quite deep with almost the entire 38 lb box of this Tidy Cats litter in the hope of keeping cat urine from reaching the bottom of the box. So far it's working very well. In addition to making my cat's litterbox visits more pleasant for her, I'm expecting this litter to last much longer, saving lots of clean-up effort and cash. It's early days yet, but for now, I'm sold on this Tidy Cats litter. UPDATE 2+ WEEKS: Happy (and amazed) that this litter has stayed clean and requires only easy scooping and topping up every couple of days. Even if my cat urinates near the sides of the litter box, the clumps come away free, leaving the box itself and the remaining litter clean. I'm gobsmacked, but in a good way. So glad my search for a good cat litter is over!

I have four cats, three of which decide to pee over each other on the same spot every single day. Even though I clean the litter box every morning and night, I’ve never been able to find a litter that would clump correctly due to the large amounts of pee the cats would put out. I must say this litter deserves more than five stars!!!! It clumps so well and does not cause any crumbling or mess. Large rock hard clumps with one single scoop! I would say it’s pretty decent at blocking the smell as well. Super impressed and this will be my go to litter from here on out!

Best cat litter

Cats use it, no problem. It has no perfume odor and suppresses litter odor very well. It clumps better than the perfumed versions of the same brand.

Absolutely love this clumping cat litter ! Scoopability is doable because it hardens liquid upon contact. It may be due to me putting entire litter contents into pan. Also, odor control and tracking is less again because of putting all litter into her cat box. Moving on, this litter worth the price for quality and texture. I prefer this litter also because shipping and handling from Amazon is convenient and without issues, they get major props for that. Whereas with other shippers the box is broken in some type of way.

Horrible packaging with a dose of okayish litter…

Literally why would a company package their product like this? This is a 38 pound box of cat litter whose very purpose is to be picked up and poured into a litter box. This litter is packaged in a giant box so big you can barely get your arms around it, with absolutely no handles, zero side openings, nothing. I’m relatively fit and picking up this box to pour is next to impossible. Don’t even get me started on lugging it up to my apartment because the delivery guy could barely get it in from his truck and refused to go further than the stairs. I’ve never tried this litter before, but am on a quest to find something new after my beloved Ever Clean was sold and ruined by a mega corporation. I’ve tried about every brand out there, and this isn’t the absolute worst. The unscented doesn’t have a smell, good, but it’s very fine and tracks quite a bit, bad. It’s a bit dusty, but honestly after Ever Clean, I’ve never seen anything as bad as that one, so this one rates way better than that one. I’m not super keen on the clumping yet. I’ve got one digger in the box and the pee ends up stuck to the bottom of the box, so the clumping is iffy. I believe now that there are no good litters, only ones you can tolerate. They’re all either too dusty, or they don’t clump, or they stink. Companies can do whatever they want because they know how we need it. I might buy this again, but never ever in this packaging. It’s not worth the hernia.
