  • Runs well on propane, adjust rpm for proper frequency
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
I won't use gasoline to avoid fuel storage and longevity issues for times it doesn't get used, but propane works great with this generator. I ran it on my home circuit for 6-7 hours on a 20lb tank. It varies but it was about a constant 2500 watt load. I did have issues initially with the generator outputting too high s frequency. I understand it does this to compensate for a full load and it would settle around 59hz when it is fully loaded. But I was getting 64.5hz with no load, and my home load still didn't bring it below 62hz. This caused my UPS battery backup's throughout the home to trip over to battery mode and never charge on generator power. After some research I found you can adjust the RPM with a screwdriver and a wrench via the linkage to the carb. I turned it to be at 60.2hz while it running my usual home load. Now the UPS's accept the power and no longer trip. It starts up quickly and easily with push button or pull start. Assembly was easy as well. It will come on a pallet from a truck with a lift gate, so be prepared to have a way to move it or assemble where they leave it. Tips for oil changes, I cut a small jug the height of the frame and slid it under for easy draining with no mess. I ran mine for the 5 hours they recommended with synthetic 5w30, then I drained and replaced with the same oil, ran it for 5 minutes, then changed it again so I know it's ready for service and all the break in metal is removed. I think for $200 more I could have gotten a similar one with a remote start, I probably would have rather done this but it's working just fine for me. ... show more

  • Nice generator
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
Using it as whole home generator seems to be good quality. It runs 1500 square feet mobile home with 3 ton heatpump. It struggles to run the ac and oven at the same time.

  • Exactly what I needed
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
Purchased this as an emergency generator for the major appliances in the house, during a power outage. Saw the many positive reviews and it was at a good price point for the rated output. The assembly was easy, requiring only a few basic tools. Battery was charged and I was easily able to start it up after a few seconds priming. Very easy to move around and store until needed. Update : Even happier .. After purchasing this generator, we had an electrician move the essential circuits to a sub panel and install a safety disconnect, so it wouldn't back feed electricity to the pole. We lost power during a snow storm and this generator was able to handle the demand for 2 days. Well pump, microwave, 2 refrigerators, as well as lights, TV and computers. Occasionally, we would hear the engine rev as there was more demand, but no brown outs. Most of the time was on gasoline, but early in the morning we were running low and it was still snowing heavily, so I switched over to propane (hose and regulator were supplied from manufacturer). Again, ran with no problems. After 3-4 hours, I did see that the propane tank and regulator were icing over and started to run a little heavier, but I think this is more related to propane, not the generator itself (it was in the mid 20's F outside). I don't think this would have happened if it were warmer out (for example during a summer storm). Once we refueled and switched back to gasoline, it ran fine, again. Very easy to switch between fuels. ... show more

  • Has done a Great job for me
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
I have had this generator for 4 years now. I used this thing on a job site for 2 weeks with a bunch of framers plugged in to it no problem. I have lost power at my house multiple times like (8) due to multiple storms for extended period of time. This has ran my 15,000 BTU A/C and all the lights and outlets for my house and shop no problem. During Beryl we were out for 5 days and this thing was very handy and worked quite awesome. Ran cook top along with fans and window unit and never skipped a bit. It ran for 5 days straight. On a different storm 3 days straight. I have a set up to where it runs my house as long as I keep all large 220 circuits off except for cook top. Everything works no problem. It is a bit heavy and the wheels come in handy but you need 2 people to get this into a truck Just FYI. PS I disconnect the battery when I am not using it and have yet to throw a charger on it. The electric start comes in very handy. ... show more

  • Worked without issues
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
Ive had this unit for close to two years now. It stays outside under cover. I was skeptical and did a lot of research before buying anything. Ive used the unit twice. Once on gas and once on propane. It started up first try both times. Its a generator so it will create some noise but I am unable to hear it from inside the house. I have 2400 sq ft house with two A/c units. I had it run to my circuit board so it takes a minute to shut off all the circuits and then switch to the unit power and turn the circuits I want to use on but not unreasonably. I ran almost everything in the house. Right after purchase the price dropped and I was sent a refund for the difference. I would have preferred to have a Generic automatic on unit but I don't have a gas line to the house and don't want to get a large tank. Overall this is a very good unit. Not good for the price just good in general. ... show more

  • Does what it needs to do!
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
We had our electric pole catch fire after a grounding issue, arked in the box. Electric company deemed it our responsibility so we were without power until repairs were made. Thankfully, I had purchased this Generator beforehand, because living in rural Texas the grid isn't that sturdy with rolling storms. This was the first time actually having to use it and I was nervous at first. It did exactly what we needed it to. It powered our camper without any issues and we were comfortable the whole time. Now as everyone complaining about the noise, it's manageable. I've had used an old honda generator that would keep you up at night. With this one we had a peaceful night's rest each night and didn't have to wake up all hours to refill it with fuel. I had previously opened it and assembled it (slight things) I also noticed it didn't come with any oil. I can't remember what I used but I know it held a full quart. Also make sure to use fuel stabilizer if you have it sit. I used Sta-bil and it works great. You just need to start it once a month and let it run. I believe the tank holds a little over 6 gallons of straight gasoline, as my 6 gal jug almost fills it up. I got approximately 12 hours (maybe slightly more) of run time before running out of fuel. It ran our AC, fridge, and tv the whole time. I hope my review helps someone in making a decision, I was very leary at first but it has proven itself to me. I have not used the propane hook up but I believe that you'll have a longer run-time with that. Thank you for reading my review and have a blessed day! ... show more

  • The best bang for your buck, right here! The best bang for your buck, right here!
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
The most important thing for me when buying a generator is the usefulness of it. This Pulsar machine makes enough current to handle anything I can throw at it. It has four regular 120 outlets plus a couple different 240 outlets for larger tools. There’s even a separate 12 volt dc connection for smaller stuff and for charging a car battery. There is a little digital display that shows functions and a service reminder. There is an oil level light and each outlet has its own breaker. Finally, this is a dual-fuel generator. When the power goes out at home, I can put this generator to work right away and not have to worry about filling up a gas can. If needed, I can just grab a propane tank from my grill and have it up and running on clean, smoke-free propane in less than a minute. Everything about it is useful and not complicated. The next most important thing is the look of it. The thing is solidly built, but with an open tube-frame so you can get to everything easily. The third point that is important to me is the color. I carry this in my work truck. The last thing I want is some brightly colored attraction in the back of my truck while I’m working. This generator is a nice blend of gray and matte black. It looks good, but it blends in with the rest of the stuff in my truck. I think it is a very good value for the price I paid ... show more

  • So Far So Good! So Far So Good!
Style: Dual Fuel Generator
We bought the Pulsar G12KBN generator after looking a lot of options and reading a lot of reviews. It took a couple of weeks for the product to arrive as there was a lot of bad winter storms across the country. As it was, it took us longer to schedule the electrician and to prepare the installation site near our power pole. Luckily we did not lose power during the delay. We were able to assemble the generator (easy!) and maneuver the generator into our mini-shed (not-so- easy as the generator is heavy!). The generator started without much trouble using the electric starter. We also used the pull cord starter to make sure that worked. The electrician came the next day and hooked up our transfer switch and we were able to switch the power over as expected. The 9500 watts should allow us to run our sewer pump, fridge and of most of our appliances and lights, etc but not our electric furnace. So far so good! Now that we are have spent the money and are ready for power outages we probably won't need it! ... show more
