I wanted to attach a USB mixer to my PS4. Why not just use the USB from the PS4 directly? The mixer didn't allow me to control the output from the PS4 via the USB, but I had a spare stereo input... Analog. The PS4 had a optical output, and this device worked perfectly.... almost. It comes with an optical patch cable, which fits the socket on the PS4. Then it has RCA Jacks, but the RCA cable it comes with converts to a 1/8" TRS plug. Many devices would want a that 1/8" TRS, but I needed 1/4" mono plugs. Well, I had a couple of RCA to 1/4" adapters, and I had a plain RCA stereo patch cable so I was able to make the connection. I don't even think about this gadget, because it works perfectly. BTW, I have the game plugged into one stereo input, and an Amazon echo plugged into the other. I use the mixer to convert the mic to the USB needed by the PS4. I can listen to music or TED talks or audible (each of which need to be rebalanced) and the other people in my group are not bothered. Or I can cut them in. The mixer allows any flexibility I want.

Great little device. My AirPods wouldn’t connect with my tv via Bluetooth. I connected this device to the optical out on the tv and plugged my Airfly device into the headphone jack. My AirPods connected immediately and I can now use my AirPods with my tv.

Original Review, December 27 2023: Cheap way to connect speakers to newer tvs. Using it with my new LG QNED80. Sound it's great, plug and play. No way to adjust volume, but it's pretty loud. Update July 29 2024, device stopped working out of the blue.

My new Samsung TV does not have any of the good old RCA connectors, so I was in a quandary about to output the sound from the TV to my old Nakamichi analog receiver. I had the Nakamichi restored several years ago and it has worked like a charm with my old plasma TV through RCA connectors. I'm not real knowledgeable about AV, so I had to pour through the online Samsung manual to figure out that I needed to use the optical connection jack to output the sound. But the Nakamichi was manufactured before optical connections were standard on home electronics. I hoped that this DAC converter would do the trick. And it did. The included optical cable plugged right into the Samsung and the RCA jacks from the Nakamichi plugged right into the Camway converter. I did have to supply a wall wart for power, although a power cable was provided. I configured the TV to output to optical, and voila! Glorious analog sound. As an aside, I was also able to get the Samsung remote to control the volume of the Nakamichi receiver.

This analog audio converter didn't meet my expectations with the equipment that I had. I followed the instructions in setting my Samsung TV to PCM audio but the audio was more on one speaker than the other. Even with balancing the sound it didn't help me. Overall, I consider it too much of a hassle to do the setting up every time that I would need to use my external speakers. I returned it for a refund. I think it's much better to just buy a sound bar that it's wireless and would sound much better. Also, I couldn't control the volume either with my speaker remote nor the TV remote. This is my opinion on this product.
