I'm reviewing this item as priced ($200) at an entry-level price-point for 10-Inch Sliding Compound Miter Saws. At that price point, the machine is a good value. However, you should be aware of several frustrations that I encountered in using it. If those frustrations are sufficient to make you decide to look elsewhere, so be it. I'm also adding some random, usage notes after this list of 'caveat emptor's. Without further ado, and In no particular order: 1) Each fence is secured by one screw and one knob-ed screw instead of two knob-ed screws. This whole purpose of having knob-ed screws is to eliminate the need to reach for a screwdriver, so this stupidity half-measure defeats its own purpose; 2) The vertical angle control doesn't have any detents that click in place at standard angles (the horizontal one does); 2.5) I found the vertical angle indicator not easy to read, but YMMV; 3) The cutting depth control is just a screw without any depth gauge indicator, so it's a pain to use; 4) The dust bag is tiny even by mitre saw standards, with a capacity of probably less than a quart; 5) The included documentation poorly diagrams the machine's parts. All you get are two unclear small black-and-white sketch diagrams for the ~40 components; 6) In no configuration that I could muster would the saw lay remotely stably on its side for stowing; 7) It comes with only one clamp; 8) The holes (3/8") for bolting the saw to a workbench are plastic, not metal-lined, and don't dampen vibration; One good feature that was a relief to discover was that the saw's slider bar has an adjustable footer at its end, so using the slider doesn't compromise the saw's stability. I noticed that the saw can cut at +47 to -49 degree angles (horizontally); Mine had some odd damage on the (plastic) blade guard (see attached photo). This review is for the 10" variant. I already have a DeWalt DWS716XPS as my primary miter. It works really well for nearly everything... except that it doesn't slide. So if I'm trying to cut a 2x6", for example, I don't generally have enough cut depth to get through it. A sliding miter would not have that problem. So, when this popped up, I jumped on it. Now that I've used and evaluated it, I'm still happy with it overall, but a little less so for a couple simple yet important reasons. I'll start with the good. It's built well. It has a solid metal base that is well machined. I wouldn't say it exceeds the precision machining on my DeWalt, but it's damned close if not the same. The table is flat without noticeable imperfections, and the table insert (throat) is a nice bright orange. It's not a zero-clearance insert, of course, but I easily modeled one and printed on my 3D printer. The clamping design is actually far superior to my DeWalt. The clamps have a shaft that fits into a hole on the back of the fence. Both the left and right fences have a hole, although they only give you one of the clamps with this product. And then the clamp presses downward as usual. It also has extendable supports on the left and right sides to give a bit more support for the work piece. But like most extendable supports on most miter saws, they are pretty short and not really that useful for a lot of things (at least in my experience). The rotating table is more or less what you'd expect. When you first look at the scale, though, you will notice it is off-center from the base. At first, I thought the scale was adhered in the wrong place, but it's actually just because the degree indicator for the table isn't centered in the throat like a lot of saws. It's off to the left side of the throat. So, the whole scale shifts leftward to adjust for that. It works just fine once you wrap your head around that, but just mentioning in case anyone else has the same "wait a minute" thought process that I did before I noticed the indicator on the left side. There are stops at 45°, 31.6°, 22.5°, 15°, and 0° (plus the same going the other way). The compounding bevel doesn't have stops on it, but it has a scale obviously, and it's on par with my DeWalt there (which also doesn't have stops on the bevel). I don't use the bevel that much, so that doesn't really matter to me. There are four mounting holes in the base, one in each corner, so you can bolt this to a table or whatever you want it on. Which brings me to one of my issues: it's stable when using the sliding saw function unless it's bolted down. The saw portion is very heavy. When the sliding axis is in normal position (i.e. not extended), it's just fine. You don't need it bolted down. However, one you start sliding about a third of the way out, you start to feel it get less stable. By time you full extend the saw, it will tip toward the end of the slide. I've seen other designs that put counterweight in the back of the saw for that, and I wish this one had that. That's especially true because of the next issue, and probably the one I care about the most... this saw is not convenient to store if you will be using it frequently but want to keep it in the box. With my DeWalt, I keep it portable by just keeping it in its box. That's very useful to me because usually when I need it, I'm outside of my shop for one reason or another, at another site. My DeWalt has a form-fitting styrofoam clamshell thing just like this miter saw does, but in order to store it, you only need to rotate the table all the way to a particular side. Either side will do. Nothing else needs changing. However, with this ProStormer saw, that's not the case. First, you have to angle the saw's bevel downward so it's tilted like you see in my photos. Not a huge deal, but one step you have to take. Second, you have to rotate the table to the 31.6° mark on one particular side. There's a stop there, but I found myself forgetting to put it at 31.6° (going to the full side instead) each of the three times I put it in the box. That could just be because I'm used to my DeWalt, but it's a bit annoying anyway. And third, the biggest annoyance of all... you have to completely remove the turntable's lock knob to get it in the box. See my photos. I annotated one showing the lock knob/level. That's actually disconnected, just laying inside the throat (it fits there when boxed, thankfully). But you can't leave it connected at the end of the throat because it won't fit in the styrofoam them. That is a step too far for me in terms of annoyance. I like to keep big tools like this in their boxes when they need to be portable, but ProStormer made this box so compact that it requires more steps to fit it back in. With my DeWalt, I can flip the box open, take off the top styrofoam, and pull the saw out. Quickly set the turntable however I need (which has clamping lock rather than this twist thing) and I'm ready to go. This one requires a few extra steps. At the end of the day, I'm complaining about relatively minor stuff. This saw DOES perform. It makes clean cuts, both with the included blade and my own blades. The slide mechanism is very smooth as long as it's bolted down. It has just as much power as my other saw. Generally speaking, it is just as good as my DeWalt except for portability and stability when not mounted. When you compare that relatively small inconvenience to the massive price difference ($200 for this one at time of review vs $400+ for my DeWalt), that inconvenience starts to look insignificant. Granted, my DeWalt is a 12" saw and this is 10", but even the 12" variant here is currently only priced at $240. So yeah, it's a huge cost difference, and a lot of money saved. I am not affiliated with ProStormer or DeWalt in any way. I am just using my existing miter as a comparison reference. If I didn't already have that saw, I would likely just buy the 12" version of this one. I could attach a counterweight to it pretty easily to solve the stability problem, and the boxing/unboxing is pretty trivial to save that much money. As it stands, though, my DeWalt will keep on being my primary, but when I need that extra cut from the slide, I'll be whipping this one out. I know I'll be satisfied with its performance for a long time to come. If you are looking for your first miter saw, this is a really solid option in my opinion, and a really great value compared to big name brands. There might be a little hit in quality of the machine, perhaps longevity, but it's not enough to notice for most use cases, in my opinion. And I'm a ridiculously difficult reviewer to please. I expect good tools. Overall, this is a very nice miter saw, especially for only $200 (at time of review). I'd rate this at 4.5 stars if I could do half ratings, just because the instability and boxing problem, but I can't and downgrading it to a 4-star seems too much given the really good price here for a solid piece of equipment. I already have a fixed miter saw but this sliding miter saw allows me to cut much wider boards which is something I needed. I have been able to achieve clean straight cuts with this saw and the electric motor has plenty of power for all of my jobs so far.
