I ordered 4 sets of these to put down in my living room during the Covid-19 quarantine so I could get a decent workout while my gym was closed. I trained Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on them and they did the trick pretty well. After a solid month of use 3-4 days a week my gym opened back up and so, I don't need them anymore but they performed very well while I needed them. A few things to note. 1) These are a very light foam and even with 4 sets combined and laid out on the floor they will still move around a bit under strong exercise. Not enough to trip you up (like a rug being pulled out from under you) but enough to need adjusted after an hour or two. 2) Like most things these days (think 2x4 boards) these aren't exactly the thickness listed. I ordered the 1" mats and they measure in at 7/8" exactly. I actually expected them to be closer to 3/4 inch so, I'm not terribly disappointed in this. 3) I laid these over carpet in my living room and they were fine for grappling, gi or no-gi, but I definitely wouldn't practice any Judo on them...they are just not thick enough for that. 4) I would expect these to be too light and soft for serious weight-lifting (think crossfit). The drop of weights would, I think, crush the cells very quickly and tear through the light foam easily. Otherwise, if you are looking for a light, cheap padding for grappling or kids playing on concrete or similar I think these would work great for you! ... show more

    • Excellent for insulating a cold floor

Something that I didn't see anywhere in the description is the fact that EVA foam tiles like these have about 6.5 to 7.0 "R" rating for heat insulation per inch of thickness. That's a lot! I laid mine out on my boat's floor and the hull walls inside cabinets and the v-berth and it does an excellent job of trapping that extra bit of heat during the cold months aboard. The tiles are very easy to cut with a sharp knife, and I had no problem trimming them all to fit in some odd-angled spaces. Also, at 1" thickness you really start to get some rigidity out of the tiles, whereas the thin tiles you might find at Home Depot and the like tend to curl rather easily after a bit of use. I used this bad boy under my parents' broken, wobbly washing machine. It helped to level out the floor, keeps the washer from walking around, quieted the thing, and likely (to Mom's chagrin) added a few years to the clothes cleaner. The only downside is that a cat likes to scratch at it. I used some double stick tape to annoy kitty claws. Great product. Our daughter is starting to sit up on her own, but she keeps falling sometimes. Since our apartment has only hardwood floors it involves a little knock to her head. We got this floor mat and she has fallen twice since and does not cry thanks to the cushioned surface. I just got these so I'll try to update after some use, but so far I love them. They are the thickest mats I could find and they have the non-slip grip on both sides (other brands only have it on 1). I also like that it comes with 6 squares, usually for this price you only get a set of 4. I'm using these for a play space, since they're much easier to clean and maneuver these larger mats versus the smaller sets they usually sell for kids. ... show more

All of the “normal” puzzle mats for kids were thin and cheap. We have hardwood floors and our 4 month old has started liking to be on the floor rolling around and kicking his legs. I wanted something thick to cushion is head and feet when he kicks. These are perfect!

I put it on my hardwood floor for a year. When I take it away, I found the hardwood floor under it becomes super slippery. And I just found, my shoes become slippery on the hardwood floor after step on the mat for a few days.
