  • Superb value! Android OS improves capabilities over the earlier L36Ps.
Color: White-Gray
TL;DR: A LOT of projector for the money - super portable, great for small venues, and very flexible in capability. Newly-added app support approximates a 'smart TV' experience. Having used some earlier L36P projectors for small classroom presentations, I decided to try this newer Pro model out. The biggest change is the Android-based OS, with all of the app and configuration changes it allows. First, the basics: the L36P is pretty straight-forward from a hardware perspective - it has sufficient brightness to be used in a room lit to 'evening' standards (i.e., soft, but not dim), can accommodate roughly +/- 15 degrees of vertical keystone focusing adjustment using the optical control (and additional geometrical compensation in both horizontal and vertical directions using the digital settings), can be easily focused manually (minimum throw is a bit over 5 feet from my testing), supports a variety of inputs (e.g., VGA, HDMI, screen casting via the Miracast app, USB stick). I've also used a DP-to-HDMI converter to run an older DisplayPort-only laptop to the projector. Pixel sharpness and color saturation are both amazing for the price - it's very crisp, once you get the focus dialed in. The projector can be controlled from on-device buttons, or via the included remote (needs 2x AAA, not included). Audio is clear enough for spoken audio, but not particularly loud or 'Hi-fi'. However, the projector does allow bluetooth connection to an external speaker. In contrast to the older models, the new Android-based firmware supports a variety of apps, and shifts screen casting to the Miracast app. The OS lets you connect easily to WiFi networks, install app updates, make significant tweaks to the picture settings (color, scale, geometry, etc...), and use the device in some new ways (e.g., slide shows). The Pro kit also comes with a small tripod and a very nice case. The tripod is short, but great for lifting the projector a few inches, and allowing for angled projection. My only complaint was that the remote control's battery cover was a little difficult to pop off - I somehow managed to chip a small chunk out of the battery cover, though with no impact on functionality. In the end, while this projector may start with relatively basic hardware, it makes maximum use of that hardware, and layers very capable and flexible input and app support to produce a shockingly good value. I'm very happy using this for small presentations, home movies (with external audio), and as a part of a dual-projector planetarium setup for my daughter's astronomy meetups. If you don't need ultra HD, short-throw, or super bright projection, I would highly recommend that you give this projector consideration! ... show more

  • A competent value priced projector
Color: White-Gray
To provide a fair review of this projector, I'd like to begin by clarifying what it is and what it isn't. **What it is**: a budget-priced projector with 1080P resolution, designed primarily for portable devices like phones and tablets. **What it isn't**: a high-priced multimedia projector intended for home theaters. With these limitations in mind, I can confidently say that it performs its intended functions well and offers excellent value for its price. **Unboxing Experience** Upon unboxing, I was more pleasantly surprised by the included accessories than by what was absent. The provided soft case contained a remote, an RCA to mini audio cable, an HDMI cable, and, most unexpectedly, a small tripod. While the tripod isn't sturdy enough for other uses, it effectively supports the projector. The inclusion of an HDMI cable was also a welcome addition. **Remote Functionality** The included remote differs from typical projector remotes, as it lacks focus, zoom, and keystone adjustment buttons. Instead, it is tailored more toward menu navigation and multimedia operations, featuring all the necessary buttons found on the projector itself, including volume control. It handles setup and menu functions efficiently. **Setup and Connectivity** The projector excels in its primary role as a medium-resolution device for wireless projection from phones and tablets. Setting it up was straightforward and intuitive, especially for those familiar with WiFi and Bluetooth device configurations. I effortlessly connected to WiFi, paired my phone via Bluetooth, and added an external Bluetooth speaker—all without consulting the manual. These configurations took no more than ten minutes. The instructions are well-written and include pictures to guide you through the setup process. Additionally, some steps, like device mirroring, are supported by on-screen instructions. **Image Quality** The projected image quality is adequate in both brightness and resolution. I projected an image at approximately the same size and resolution as a 50-inch HD TV and found that even in a room with curtains drawn during midday, the picture remained clear with good contrast. The sample image, sourced from an HD video streamed on my iPhone, effectively demonstrates the projector's daytime performance. In my opinion, the image quality is commendable for its price point. **Overall Impression** Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the projector's features, ease of operation, and included accessories. The output quality is impressive for its current price of $50, making it an excellent value. I highly recommend this projector, provided you understand its limitations as a budget-friendly option. ... show more

  • Temper your expectations, and it's alright
Color: White-Gray
The good: It works! This is a projection off the HDMI input from a computer onto a projection screen with minimally controlled lighting. Washed out, yes, but the fact that there's even a visible image is a feat in itself as many low cost projectors are just way too dim with any amount of room lighting. The bad: It's still a value priced projector, so don't expect top notch picture quality. The closest distance away from a screen is about 6 feet, at which the resulting image was about 55" diagonally. Media? Okay. Business or a monitor replacement? Don't think about it. The ugly: More on the picture quality. Whether straight on or at an angle and keystone adjusted, some parts will be out of focus. In Linux, the projector identifies as a MS Telematica 32". At around a half a Franklin, it's fine, hence 4 stars. More than that, the value proposition diminishes. ... show more

  • Excellent budget-class projector - many nice features in a small, portable form-factor
Color: White-Gray
This is a great little budget-class projector. It has many nice features that you'd expect to find in more expensive models. The form-factor is fairly petite as well, making it portable - you could easily bring it camping or use it confidently and comfortably in other non-home-theater settings. With the app connected to your phone or tablet it offers some 'Smart TV' features as well. The projector beam isn't bright enough for a room in full light, but in dim lighting the image looks nice. It's only 1080p so you shouldn't expect stunning visuals. But as long as you keep your expectations reasonable - it's definitely not going to compete with higher-end or mid-priced models - you're likely going to be very happy with this feature-packed projector. ... show more
