The quality is typical of a midrange cast iron dumbbell set. My set didn't have any flaws in casting or chipped paint. I love the contoured grips on the handles. To me, that makes all the difference of this dumbbell set compared to others. The ever so slight curve to the handle really makes holding the dumbbell that much more comfortable with no slippage. The collar spin locks hold the weights very secure. Much more than I thought since I'm not a fan of spin locks especially on dumbbells. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well they work. The only thing I didn't like about the set was the extra bar added to connect the two handles together. A great addition to the set, but the threads on the bar don't allow screwing the handles all the way in. This is depicted in the stock photos. No false advertising. It's a great idea, but would have been much better if the handles screwed in all the way in. Still, it's a nice addition but could have been better. Overall, a 5 star product compared to similar weight sets. The curved handles really make a difference and the bonus straight bar option is a nice add. ... show more

I'm not sure if anybody else has the same experience as me or is my product defective because I keep finding bits of metal flakes on my mat after I have used the weights. One tiny flake even cut into my finger. I was able to remove the metal flake with a twizzer.
