This was the perfect gift for my 9 year old grandson. He took this in the woods while camping, and was absolutely obsessed with it. He takes it with him everywhere, even 2 months later. To be honest, I didn't expect much at this price, but the night vision is very cool, and actually has pretty good range. It also takes photos and videos. This doesn't replace a good DSLR camera or anything, so don't expect that, but still, when you point the Binoculars into the darkness, and see an animal, it takes a really nice photo! One thing to consider, it's not exactly a stealth device. It does, by design, shine some light but more towards your face, not out at what you are viewing. Still, you aren't going to be sneaking up on anyone in complete darkness. I didn't find this to be any kind of issue at all. The micro SD card is included, so you don't need to buy that, but you may need a micro SD adapter so you can plug it in to your computer and pull the photos and videos off. They can be had for about 4 bux on Amazon. Buy it at the same time, so you're not frustrated when you want to look at your photos on the computer! And lastly, customer service was fantastic. There was a slight problem with the charging port, it's a bit sticky and you need to be CAREFUL when unplugging it. ( Did I mention that it was for a 9 year old boy? ) Despite the 30 days being up, Jane in customer service stepped up to the plate and took care of the problem for us. If you’re looking for night vision binoculars for the kids, this is a great solution. When I started researching goggles intended for hunting, they turned out to be much higher in price than something I intended as a present for an 8 year-old, but then I found these night vision goggles from Profey about a quarter of the price, and the choice was clear. Its specs, which include a 3-inch, 4K digital infrared screen with multiple brightness levels, optical zoom (2x) and digital zoom (5x) with high-quality images are comparable to the high-end models. It works great in both low-light and night time environments, delivering excellent images and video that you can store on a micro SD card (which is included). If you plan to take a lot of photos or videos, you can easily upgrade from the 32GB storage card to a 128GB version. Note that if you want to transfer any of the images or video to your computer, you’ll need to get a micro SD adapter to plug it in (they’re readily available, and inexpensive, on Amazon). It’s well designed, and very sturdy — certainly not a toy but, rather, an instrument you can feel comfortable giving to your middle-schooler while still having confidence it will remain in one piece. And its rechargeable battery means you can get hours of use. It’s been great for the kids to view the wide variety of animals outside at night and, as it turns out, also for spy games and superhero play. And, somewhat unexpected, my mom thinks it’s so cool that she wants one for herself, so I’ll probably be ordering another as a gift for her. I give five stars to this excellent product! ... show more

When you get a gift like this, you hope that it is intuitive and easy to use. This thing does what it is meant to do, but it is not easy to use. A book of instructions written in microscopic text accompanies this product. You'll have to spend a fair bit of time figure out all the doodads. It's not a product that you can pull out of the box, load a couple batteries and boom, you are set to use it with easy to figure out buttons. You'll actually have to read the microscopic text.     • Can’s set date and time or other menu options

I have not been able to set the current date and time on the menu. When I scroll through the menu, none of the buttons on the binoculars do anything with menu options. I haven’t really tried them at night because I can’t set anything so what’s the point. I sent an email to the email listed in the enclosed inserts that said the support is “always available”. It’s been 4 days and nada. I looked online to see if there were any instructions anywhere and also nada. I did a lot of research of various IR binoculars before I purchased these but it wasn’t enough to find I bought the wrong product. Don’t bother. Will return. ... show more

These are smaller than I thought they would be, but they are pretty cool! Has a little screen that you can look at. I thought they’d be more like binoculars, but the digital screen is very cool!
