  • Ugh!......Noise Cancellation Feature WAY TOO SENSITIVE...Should be Cancellable....
So, the backstory behind the title of my review... I like driving exotic cars, especially convertibles. My gf likes to video while I'm driving around. I've found that because of the wind noise whooshing over/around the cabin when driving a convertible, depending on where you hold the iPhone relative to the aerodynamic bubble created around the cabin as the air races over it, it sometimes causes the iPhone's internal mic starts clipping the audio, and it sounds like a flag flapping in 100 mph winds, and you can't hear anything else. So, I purchased this lapel mic so that my gf could film whatever she wanted (and have the phone inside or outside the car, which wouldn't matter, because this corded mic itself would be somewhere tucked in the dash or footwell, so wind wouldn't be an issue). Having said that, I wasn't aware that this mic had "ALWAYS ON" noise cancellation built into it. Let me tell you, much to my dismay, it works way too well. So, I was recently hot-rodding around in a Huracan Spider with the top down, and salivating at the Apocalyptic exhaust notes (which I thought were all being perfectly recorded by this mic), but it turns out that anything above a mouse fart will make this mic clip the sound. And I can tell that the/my problem is actually in the mic itself, because I was recording something in the car with just the iPhone, at speed, and the sound is great (not clipped at all). And, when I had this mic plugged into the iPhone, and we were driving slow or stopped at a light, etc., the sound was excellent. But, as soon as there was any kind of noise whatsoever, the mic killed the audio...so I know that the issue is definitely with the mic's "Noise Cancellation" feature. While my video, which to any gearhead/exotic car lover would've been an eargasm equivalent of Wagner's "The Ride of the Valkyries" (if you're into Classical), Metallica's "Fight Fire with Fire" / "Damage Inc." / "The Four Horsemen" or Dope's "Die MF Die", (if you're into Metal),....now has all of the primal driving passion and exhilaration of lying in a dark room and hearing someone occasionally eat Pringles loudly in another...it is dominated by silence, stutters of static and the occasional blip of actual audio I was trying to record. Extremely frustrating. Imagine you took this mic to record your favorite band in concert, and when you got home, instead of you having the most amazing audio memento of your experience....you, instead, have the most boring, hours-long, non-music video ever recorded. Yeah, you'd probably be pretty bent as well that that event is lost forever. So, were you thinking about buying this mic to: * Record your neighbor showing off his new riding lawnmower?...you now have a silent movie. * Want to film a TikTok video while you dance to music?...people watching will think you're having a seizure or goofing off, because most likely there'll be no audio to compare your moves to. * Want to take it to a rally where people are sounding off or have a bullhorn?...might as well stay home. * Reporting live from the scene and a Police Car, Ambulance or Fire Truck comes anywhere near you with sirens going?...Save your breath, mime. Had I know that this mic had this feature, and that it couldn't be deactivated, I'd have never bought it, or used it for an outing that can never be duplicated, and thus there is no audio record of (which is the whole point of driving exotic cars fast, is to hear their primal ferocity). So, the net-net is, the audio quality is great,....IF you need to record something in a library, or in Anne Frank's attic, or you're a golf announcer on TV, or you find yourself in a submarine and have to run dead silent or else you'll be detected by the Russians, or maybe you just want to record your pet hamster's flatulence problem....if so, then this is your mic (but even that last one might be too loud for this mic). However, IMO, the noise cancellation feature is ridiculously too sensitive. If there is ANYTHING, even remotely loud, anywhere near this mic, the audio is going to get clipped into silence with the occasional crinkly-Dorito-bag static noises (where the clipping toggles on/off), and if you're lucky, MAYBE some small, unintelligible iotas of the audio you were trying to actually record in the first place....it doesn't matter how much closer you are to the mic than the "loud thing", if the mic senses something loud, it will throw the kill switch and Most/All audio will be lost unless the "loud thing" goes away. ... show more

  • performs like a pro mic. these other reviews are misinformed. please read.
The media could not be loaded. Originally I'd tested an $80 Rode Lavalier Go microphone on the Zoom H1n and it was terrible. The noise floor was way too high and the mic required too much gain to capture my voice whilst fastened to my chest. I promptly returned that microphone and bought this one... I took a chance on this since it delivered same day and it was so cheap and it just performed beautifully. I own six different lav mics from several top brands, and this one is easily comparable to them (better than some). I only added about 3 notches of gain and I could hear myself clearly with very little white noise. I could easily gate out the noise floor... We'll see how it fairs in the long term, as I've only just received it, but so far this lav mic has left a very good impression. Especially considering all of the extra kit included with the mic. (replacement filters, extension cable, and TRRS to TRS converter) "noise cancellation is on your phone, not the mic" just fyi... these reviewers complaining about "noise cancellation" need to educate themselves on audio gear. I don't think they understand that acoustical noise cancellation is a software algorithm installed on their smart phones, the microphone is merely built to support it. You can turn it off on your smartphone. It is not a feature of the microphone. If I don't take care to keep my gain down, this microphone will pickup everything in the area with no problem, that's because my zoom recorder has no acoustical noise cancellation. You can hear this in my recording. (if amazon will ever allow me to post it.) "the mic survives minor bumps and drops just fine." furthermore, there is another review complaining their microphone died after dropping it 3 feet. I was concerned about that so I gave mine a few test drops 5ft and light smacks onto a marble floor. works fine. I think they're either downplaying the severity of their abuse or got a defective model and should've filed a warranty claim rather than whining on amazon. hope this helps! ... show more

  • Best little mic
I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a mic I may or may not use. This mic is perfect. Easy to use and sounds great. If you are just starting out vlogging or podcasting, you can use this mic.

  • Solid quality. New adapter is bad
This was my first lav mic and it worked so well for me at a fairly good price that I got another one for a second set up. Second one works great except for the fact that the adapter for line in is faulty. The first one had a straight-attached adapter that connects right on, while the second, newer one has the corded adapter. I'm assuming mine was a faulty batch because all I hear is static at the slightest touch of the adapter. I got the second one back in 2021 and just now remembered about the faulty adapter as I am getting ready for a shoot tomorrow where I needed a second lav. This is still a great product, just unfortunate in my case! ... show more

  • Great Traveling Microphone
It is low budget microphone. If anything, it is easy to carry and travel with. This is the main benefit of the microphone. If you want a good microphone to record with, this is not it.

  • Stopped working for no reason
Worked fine with my PC San other hardware and did the job nicely. Only lasted about 4 months and I'd really like a refund or replacement if possible because this mic was good for the money Edit: they helped me with the product and I'm satisfied!
