  • Sharpen chisels, gouges, bowl gouges, spindle gouges, carving tools, wood turning scrapers, parting tools, block plane irons and more with the PRO GRIND Sharpening System! With 3 primary methods of sharpening, youll be able to precisely hone each tool to your exacting specifications regardless of the tool you are sharpening. The PRO GRIND Sharpening System includes a vast collection of unique setup tools, jigs and accessories that most sharpening systems force you to purchase separately
  • The included and versatile Multi-Grind Jig will correctly shape the edge on bowl gouges, side grinds (aka Ellsworth grind, Liam ONeil grind/Irish grind) or fingernail grinds for spindle work and detailing. Not only will it correctly shape your tools, you will also be able to repeat the process to produce consistent results every time. The Multi-Grind Jig is designed to be used with the included Multi-Grind arm on the PRO GRIND Sharpening System and will accept tools up to 1.125 in diameter.
  • The PRO GRIND Tool Rest Bar attachment offers you the best possible way to achieve a precise edge to your bevels without taking of too much material off of your tool. After all, we need our tools to last a long time, so why would you want to take off to much at a time? The Tool Rest Bar is ideal for sharpening curved, even bevel edges that are typically used on spindle and roughing gouges.
  • The large, 3 x 5 slotted platform is the ideal way to sharpen flat edged tools like wood turning skews, chisels and hand plane irons. The platform has a slot milled horizontally through it so it can accept the included tool holder. The tool holder is designed to keep your tools at the correct angle while being able to slide side to side during the sharpening process.
  • The PRO GRIND Sharpening System also comes with a number of setup jigs and accessories to help in the setup process to sharpen your tools to the proper and repeatable angles. From the built-in projection gauge on the Multi-Grind arm to the Magnetic Micro Bevel setup block youll be able to achieve consistent repeatable angles and produce excellent results each and every time you use the PRO GRIND Sharpening Jig system.

  • Great Product - Great Price
Size: For 6" Grinders
I read all the reviews. I like to start with the 1-star reviews and work my way up. I don't know if the manufacturer addressed all of the issues, but I didn't experience any of them. The material used is even heavier than I had hoped. The cams and arms slide smoothly and lock without issue. I really like all of the different setup jigs. They are made of plastic but they are heavy duty and I see no reason why they won't last a lifetime. They aren't used under pressure or with a spinning wheel. I can't see a reason why plastic isn't a great choice for these jigs. The brass tightening wheel is secure to the steel screw. I tried very hard (with only my hands) to break the two apart and could not. I'm very mechanically inclined and I found everything very easy to understand and install. Everything was packaged with professional care. Not a single scratch on any piece. The finish on the parts seems very durable. A few of the welds (for example on small nuts that allow for the thumb locks) seem a bit small. But there are four on each nut and they are all solid. They don't have to take a lot of pressure so I believe they will be more than ample. (I'm just one of those guys that thinks more weld is better than less. However on these smaller nuts, more weld would probably cause way more issues and like I said, I don't thing it is necessary.) I would not hesitate to recommend this product to anyone. I did see that some people ordered 8" when they really needed 6" grinder versions. But the manufacturer is very clear in their description and on the box which one you are ordering. May 22 Update - I've been using the jig for a couple of months now and I really like it. I get perfect grinds on my lathe chisels every time. Since my angles are always the same, sharpening takes very little time and removes very little metal. I sharpen before each project and run a project every-other-day. Very nice product! ... show more

  • Very well constructed, Can sharpen a variety of tools
Size: For 8" Grinders
I purchased this to sharpen my wood lathe tools. I am a retired machinist so I am very familiar with what it takes to fabricate things. The entire unit is extremely well constructed, and the workmanship was way above average especially for custom made items these days. It was packaged perfectly, even though it was not in an exterior box it arrived in perfect condition. There is quite a bit of assembly required, and it does require measuring and drilling holes to mount the components, but I am sure that anyone who is going to purchase such an item will have no problems at all. The feature that sold me on this unit versus others on the market was the fact that this can be set up to sharpen any of the tools that I have, gouges, skew, scraper, parting tool, etc. There is no additional components needed to sharpen any of these, and additionally my wood chisels as well. If I had to find any sort of feature that could use improvement it would be the angles that the Pro Grind is set up to achieve. The documentation does not specify the angle, just a type of tool. I would like to see something for example "set to position #1 for 55 degrees, Position #2 for 40 degrees" etc. This way I could grind the tool to what I chose. Other than that, I can not find fault with anything in this system. I mounted mine on a 14"x18"x3/4" piece of plywood, and had to attach a smaller piece of plywood for the grinder to sit on to raise it to the proper height. The base is large enough for me to drill holes to store the various setup gages and places for the various fixture pieces, as well as a small dish of water in case I need to do some aggressive grinding and need to keep the tool cool. All in all, I am very pleased with this addition to my shop equipment. Based on other systems I looked at, the Pro Grind is not only very cost effective, but will sharpen a wider variety of tools. Recommend highly. ... show more

  • Good product and good customer service.
Size: For 8" Grinders
I bought this because I was struggling to sharpen my lathe tools freehand. It has allowed me to sharpen nicely. For me the installation took awhile and a couple of tries but was worth it. I had a problem with one part and customer service was absolutely awesome.

  • It works but it has some minor issues
Size: For 8" Grinders
Update: I've figured out how to reduce the slop in the bases and that has helped. Unfortunately I've noticed that the large depth gauges attached to the end of the v-arm are interfering with getting a proper grind on my bowl gouge wings. I finally took a hack saw and cut the guides off. I ground down the edges on the v-arm smooth and it works much better. I took a file to the two depth gauge pieces that I removed and screwed them down to the plywood base. I’ve also found the the platform that I had issues with does work very well with rolled edge skews. I think that if I soften the bottom edges of my scrapers the platform will work with those as well. Adding a star on to my review. It does work but there are a few problems that are holding the review to 3 stars. When you pull the handle to lock the v-arm into the base the v-arm moves. It moves enough to change the angle of the grind but since the amount it moves is inconsistent you have to move it, lock the handle, see where it moved, unlock the handle and repeat until you get the angle just right. It takes a few times each time you need move the arm. The other issue that I have is the grinding platform. It’s aluminum and one corner was bent and scratched when it arrived. I was able to make it flat again but it’s not super pretty. It should be a steel platform since you’re running hardened steel tools over it. All that aside I can get a consistent grind on my tools with a little extra work to set the arm. Once the v-arm is in place you can touch up your gouges quickly enough that you won’t hesitate to go to the grinder while turning. The multi grind jig is easy to use and it works. The magnetic micro bevel block works well and provides 4 different bevel positions. The multi angle quad gauge works fine but I worry about the plastic’s longevity. Only time will tell if the plastic holds up. ... show more

  • This is a great sharpening system
Size: For 8" Grinders
This is a great sharpening system. I have used it to reset the edges on my turning tools and now get consistent grinds each time. It also takes me seconds to touch up the edge of my current tool so I find I sharpen more frequently because of how easy and fast it is to do, which of course gives me a very clean cut and better performance. I used the low speed, Bucktools 8 inch grinder, though I had to raise it an inch off the bench to accommodate the sharpening system. ... show more

  • Consistent excellent grind on my lathe chisels
Size: For 8" Grinders
I'm getting excellent repeatable grinds on my lathe chisels. This really is a comprehensive sharpening system with everything you need to grind turning chisels. I mostly sharpened my chisels by hand and eye which worked fine as long as I had good grind to follow. Fixing the grind on old chisels was difficult by hand. I looked at and used some other systems, which seemed to work, but everal required addition jigs and set up gauges. This is a comprehensive package which includes everything I've needed so far, as well as additional jigs and setup gauges I have not yet needed. I am using this on a Rikon slow speed 8 inch grinder and it works fine. Both the description, the video, and the instructions tell you that you MAY need to raise the grinder up for sufficient clearance. The excellent video and descriptions tell you to refer to the mounting instructions for more information about raising the grinder. I could not find any specific dimensions listed. A 3/4 inch riser was not enough but 1 1/2 inch - using two 3/4 risers - works fine. Again, I am very pleased with the system versitility and very comprehensive set of jigs and gauges. Watching the video a couple times made using the system easy. I am very pleased with this. It is truly a comprehensive system that works very well. The price is very reasonable for everything that is included and the quality. The setup and use video is useful. It is all good tutorial information and not marketing / sales fluff. ... show more

  • Cheap plastic and misleading description of what you're ordering Cheap plastic and misleading description of what you're ordering
Size: For 6" Grinders
I bought the pro grind system based on their excellent instructional video and reviews, but also because a guy in my turning group also bought one years ago and swears by it. Despite being $30 MORE than the One-Way you find in classes, I liked the sturdiness and durability of the system. I also liked that they had a model that explicitly worked with a 6-inch grinder, as that’s what I had. I also wanted to support a US company. The jig itself is constructed of powder coated metal and was carefully placed in the box. Amazon delivered it in the original box so the world could see what it is, if that matters to you. However, to my dismay, the Quad setup jig and the Setup blocks are now in molded plastic, and the quality is far from what is represented in the video or the photos on their web site. The quad setup jigs are marked simply with 1 and 2, so the “recipe” for setting up a proper method to adjust the tool using either the 1¾” or 2” distance are replaced by giant 1s and 2s and molded using the lightest plastic you’d find on a Milton Bradley toy. You can even see the reinforced ribbing on the other side of the tool as they’re not even solid pieces. This is nowhere near the quality molding as you’d find on a Microjig push block, and it’s even worse than what you’d find Kreg would use. This isn’t some dark arts of manufacturing I’m referring to; these molds represent a haphazard manufacturing afterthought. Worse, instead of having a written explanation of when to use which numbered part printed directly on the part itself, I instead need to use a piece of paper that they included in the plastic wrap for the pieces. This part is mostly because I am an idiot (not on them), but they included the paper in the sealed plastic so it looked like a shipping label (the instructions were included in the box. I didn’t realize this was the instructions for these parts, so I trimmed off an edge of the instructions I now need to store somewhere and hope I don’t lose. Anyway, I’m still in the process of putting my shop together after moving, so I didn’t open the box until last night. Thus, I missed my return window with Amazon so I was forced to contact the company to be that guy and complain. I called customer service, who explained that the manufacturer doesn’t sell the metal parts anymore. After telling me that there’s a mysterious difference between whether or not Amazon ‘fulfills’ or ‘sells’ an order (which buyers wouldn’t be able to figure out) and pleading with them to make this right somehow, I was escalated to someone higher who is going to refund me the cost of replacing these parts (because these are not great quality). The woman on the phone was very helpful, and explained that the 6” system never had a metal part to begin with. Though there’s no indication that it would be different than the 8”, despite paying the same price for either a 6” with plastic parts or 8” for metal parts means you’re effectively paying more for lower quality. I’m annoyed that there’s no indication on the description, in their video, and only one other reviewer who suspiciously gives it 5 stars mentions the plastic parts when searching the page for it. Going to the Peach Tree website (which no one should reasonably be expected to do this much research to see if a seller is being honest) neglects to mention the lack of metal parts. Instead I’d see that I would need to spend $20 MORE on the manufacturer's site in addition to paying for shipping and I wouldn't have looked much further. I don't think they did it on purpose, but this just feels like a sneaky way to keep me from seeing they use cheap plastic molding. In any case, this listing is deceptive and I’m really disappointed even if they were able to refund me back a small portion of the cost of this thing. It doesn't make me feel great about buying anything from them in the future, and this is a pretty niche hobby to lose customers in. ... show more
