The dehumidifier seems good for small spaces and does pull moisture out of the air. It's a bit slow doing it though. After one shower it usually takes a good part of the day for it to reduce the amount of humidity in a medium sized bathroom to normal (may be affected by the extra ceiling height because of a skylight?) After running it almost every day for a few weeks, I've only had to empty it once and the room still has a bit of humidity when I turn it off at the end of the day. I haven't tried it in another room yet, so maybe it would function better elsewhere. It's not super loud, so you could probably tune it out if it's in the room with you, but not if it was next to a desk or bed. I'd say this would work best for closets or dorm rooms, but nowhere with a substantial amount of moisture. I would recommend something more powerful for a large bathroom or other humidity prone areas. ... show more

I bought this and was so surprised by how much moisture this pulls out of the air. It is small enough to sit on the bathroom counter and I have to empty it about every week and a half to 2 weeks. My hydrometer went from the high 60’s to the high 40’s to low 50’s within a couple of days. I would definitely recommend this to help keep the moisture in your home down, if you find your having difficulty with high humidity. It’s easy to use, the instructions are clear, and it arrive promptly.

Bought it for a basement closet/mechanical room that was smelling musty. It does exactly what it says, and the musty smell vanished within a week of starting to run this. Note that this doesn't have the features you'd expect in a larger dehumidifier: if you pull the bucket out without turning off the machine, it will start running again, and it doesn't have a pre-drilled place to attach tubing to allow it to drain continuously into a sink or a sump pump. However, it would be really easy to drill a hole yourself if you wanted, which is what I had planned on doing. Once I got it set up, I realized it suited my needs better to empty it manually.     • This is how to take the tank apart for cleaning

Use a putty knife to carefully pry the top off. You’ll have 3 parts: top, tank and float. Clean and put the float on the small shelf aligned with the hole (you’ll see it when the lid is off). Snap the lid back down. I’ve seen reviews and answers advise “it’s distilled water- it’s clean; why would you need to clean it?” Because it’s humid. Because I don’t cool my house to 68 degrees. Because the float hole is a nucleus site to allow dust into a wet space and for mildew to grow all through that dark wet space. It happens. I’ve had this for a little over a year. It works well in my 100+ year old house that doesn’t have a vent fan in the bathroom; a very humid space considering showers and baths. I’ve cleaned it twice so it’s not something I need to do often but I do need to do it and don’t want to replace the whole unit when I do. No complaints. ... show more
