It can get a little warm in the summer without a cooling gel top, but we sleep with a fan on so it hasn't bothered us enough to get a gel top addition. This mattress is comfortable as long as you have a mattress topper on it. The first two nights my husband and I slept on it our bodies were sore all the next day.
