I regularly order the two-pack of PrettyLitter because it works well for my cat and gives me a little extra peace of mind. I especially like the health-monitoring feature because the color changes may give me an early heads-up that something could be going on with his urinary health. I know it doesn’t replace veterinary care or provide a diagnosis, but I appreciate having another way to notice potential changes. It also does a great job controlling odors and produces less noticeable dust than many other litters I’ve tried. One bag lasts about two to three weeks for us when I scoop and stir it daily. It doesn’t stay fresh for an entire month in our house because my cat drinks plenty of water and uses his litter box frequently, but I’d rather be honest about the longevity since every cat will be different. I’ve tried less expensive crystal litters, and while they worked fine, I continue coming back to PrettyLitter because I notice a difference in the overall quality, dust, and odor control. It costs more, but for us, the performance and added peace of mind make it worth buying.

Worth the price

I have two cats, so keeping the litter box from smelling like we have two cats is always a challenge! I was really curious to see if PrettyLitter was actually as good at controlling odor as everyone says, and I have been very impressed. Even with both of my cats using the litter box, I hardly notice any smell, which is probably my favorite thing about it. I also really like that it’s lightweight. Carrying and pouring it is so much easier than the heavy bags of regular litter I’ve used before. The health-monitoring feature that changes color based on certain changes in their urine is an added bonus and gives me a little extra peace of mind. With two cats, I do go through it faster than someone with just one cat, so one 6 lb bag isn’t going to last us a full month. PrettyLitter actually recommends about one bag per cat, especially when two cats share a litter box. It is more expensive than regular litter, but honestly, the odor control alone has made a huge difference in our house. I’d much rather pay a little more than walk in and immediately smell the litter box!

TEN Stars if I could (with a deduction for Environmental Impact)

The ONE FEATURE of this litter that concerns me is its ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: -- It's made of silica gel, same chemical composition as sand (SiO2)... -- But, because of how it's made... being super-energy-intensive to manufacture... -- Much more costly impact to the planet than biodgradable litters -- This will sit in a landfill indefinitely... tens of thousands of years or more -- (BUT: this WILL NOT leach anything harmful into ground water, soil etc. Just sit there) All that said... Let's look at the POSITIVES of this product, if you've already committed to using it. -- HEALTH TRACKING features are quite interesting, useful and as far as I can tell, function well. -- ABSORBENCY of this product is ASTOUNDING... We have two cats that put out a lot of otherwise odorous pee... but with this stuff, it's almost like NOT THERE at all. Stirring the sand shows it's there, but the odor? Hardly at all! -- CLUMPING of this is very different from clumping of clay or natural products. It "kind of clumps"... gets thicker.. but absorbs everything around it... without having to form giant clump clusters. Quite nice, actually! -- WEIGHT of the material itself... volume for volume, it's about 1/2 to 1/3 the weight, yet it continues to absorb for weeks. Not sure even how that's possible, but that's exactly what it does. -- DUST or blowback while raking or pouring it: NON-EXISTENT... totally PLACID. No problem at all. -- FREQUENCY of CLEANING ATTENTION: Wow! Completely off the charts (positively) different from "normal litter"... If I forget a day or two even... I'm not slammed in the nose with an odorous stench... and yet, I can go swoosh things around a bit, pick out the dry odorless clumps of poop on top, and get on with things. SUPER Nice that way. -- EFFECT on the cats? Completely positive. They just "do their business" and get on with it. If anything, tho, the effect is very positive. We have three boxes: two with silical and one with traditional litter... just to see their preferences. Turns out that since we've been using this, the third "other litter" box is hardly used AT ALL... the cats themselves are self-selcting the silica variety. Need I say more? Yes, of course I do have an environmental conscience, and realize the effect of the product on the planet is harder, just due to energy and manufacturing process. But when I factor in things like more transportation cost because of traditional litter being 2X or 3X heavier for the volume... along with the happiness of the cats and ease of support in the household... There are probably a lot of other things far worse in the long run than this... In fact, I have talked myself into leaving it a FULL FIVE STARS because feature by feature of the good sides of this stuff... it would be more like TEN STARS... So just realize I theoretically shaved off a bit for the environment, but STILL give it FIVE STARS!!! Yes, it will be sitting there in a landfill for thousands of years, or forever... But then, so would its chemical brother sand (which is also SiO2)

Long-Lasting & Easy to Maintain

I've been using PrettyLitter for a few months now and I absolutely love it. I used to consider it to be more costly compared to some of the other brands such as Purina or or Arm & Hammer. Although, I've found that with consistency on maintaining the liter box, this will actually last up to or over a month. Even if it's not maintained as often, the smell is never noticeable to the extent that I've noticed with other liters. I also love the texture as it's easy to maintain and keep clean. The Lotus Flower smell is also very subtle and not overpowering which I absolutely love. Some of the other scented liters tend to be fairly harsh, especially when used often. Overall, it's a wonderful product and even better that it monitors my cats health. I wish the bags were just a little bit bigger for the price, but I can't really complain given all of the pros vs cons with this brand.

pricier than I wanted to spend but regardless i was spending 30.00 a week on the 40# multi cat tidy cat clumping and it stunk so bad, even after scooping. Now the only reason I can 4 stars is because IT DOES NOT LAST A MONTH, however it does last 2 solid weeks - that is your scooping every other day. The smell is bearable, the mess or lack of awesome, super light and easy on the vacuum. Now create some that a dog doesn't want to eat....

Excellent litter!

I’ve been using pretty litter for about five years. I like it because you only have to remove the solid waste and then stir the sand a few times a day. It lasts for me about two weeks. I have one cat. My favorite part about it is that this cat is just five months old and is our newest addition to the family, but is our only Cat at the moment. She loves to watch me clean her box but what she really loves is when I wash out the tray and add fresh sand. She waits till she knows she won’t be bothered and then she goes crazy. She jumps in at one spot and digs, then she turns around and goes to another spot and digs. She does this over and over again. She just loves digging. She only does this when it’s fresh but I have it on video and still pictures and they make me laugh out loud every time I look at them. There is basically no smell, but that may be in part because she’s very fastidious about covering the stool. I’m very happy with the litter. And I buy it usually from Amazon because their price is cheaper, but occasionally from Walmart or target. Whoever has the cheapest price.
