I wanted a storage option for my daughter's theater/play room and could not find what I really wanted which was a solid wood smallish unit to hold a collection of kids DVD's and Blu-ray disks so I chose this tower. Now, you know when you pay such a low price that the quality and/or construction is going to be compromised but really this is not too bad once assembled. Yes, it is made of some unknown material and the shelves are really thin but once put together, in about 30 minutes, it seems sturdy and does not look too bad. All the parts aligned correctly and the worst bit was nailing the back on. The back is a some type of folded cardboard material but is not too flimsy and the join in the middle is hidden by the middle upright. My tower was delivered with two middle uprights and one left hand instead of a left, middle and right. So I contacted customer services for help - I 'phoned rather than emailed as I wanted to talk to a person and get an expected shipping date. It might have been possible to get this by email but took a chance with a phone call and was pleasantly surprised to get through almost immediately. Helpful rep said a replacement would ship in about a week so 9 or 10 days later received the missing part. It was irritating that the tower had passed quality control and been shipped incorrectly but was impressed by the helpful and fast response to my problem. I found the supplied gliders really hard to nail in the bottom - one bent and broke when I tried to straighten it but I just left off the back two gliders and, anyway, the unit is more stable with a slight backward lean with young hands pulling movies off the shelves! There are plenty of holes drilled for the shelves so it is easy to find the right height for DVD's and BD's. I would buy this again ... show more

    • Looks Good, Sturdy, Easy to Assemble, and Holds 320 CDs
I am very happy with the Prepac BMA-0320. It was easy to assemble and solved my CD storage problem. It is sturdy, looks good, and goes well with my other black furniture. Taking my time, I was able to easily assemble the rack in 45 minutes, except for the back. I took my time aligning the back and pre-drilling holes, which took another half hour. When putting in the pins, skip the top hole and use every fifth hole. You will end up with 8 CD compartments on each side. Each shelf will hold 20 standard size CDs, for a total of 320. As for depth, a standard CD case sticks over the shelf about 3/8 of an inch, and is recessed about ¼” from the front edge of the rack. There was very little sawdust in the box, just a little powdery wood on the surface in a few places. A final wipe down with a microfiber towel was sufficient to leave the rack looking clean. I think it is reasonable to expect some sawdust in RTA furniture, especially after turning in some screws. Minor Complaints: The back piece and the back edges of the frame are not pre-drilled. I was not confident in my ability to drive nails straight while the rack was upright so I aligned the back with the frame and took a 1/16 drill and drilled nail holes at the top corners. I put in two nails then aligned the back at the bottom and drilled two holes and nailed the back, so it was straight. Then I carefully pre-drilled pilot holes for the rest of the nails. I measured and marked the center before drilling the holes in the middle. The bottom side of the top piece is not finished. It’s not very visible, especially with CDs in the rack. If a shelf is not full the unused holes for the pins are visible, as the holes are not painted. Not sure why they recommend a flat blade screwdriver. A Phillips head driver works fine. You will also need a hammer, and I recommend a drill with 1/16” bit to pre-drill pilot holes on the back. ... show more

Not great quality, it's made of pressed wood materials with a paper veneer. If you're careful with assembly and use, it looks okay and holds quite a few media items.
