For the *price*, this is perfectly fine string. But compared to nicer brands, it kind of sucks. The colors are nice & it gets the job done, but it does occasionally rip so you wind up getting little tuffs in your stitches like these. It's also very course, so it doesn't lay flat or blend in the way brands like DMC do. If you're a beginner or don't plan on ever displaying/selling your work, buy this string. Pleased to report that this is genuine natural fiber, and not synthetic. It clearly passed the burn test and didn't melt like plastic. I only embroider with cotton and so many of these deals on Amazon claim to be 100% cotton but definitely are not. I took a risk on these and lucked out. Great variety of colors. I bought this thinking it was DMC, not a dupe. I needed a skein of DMC 351 and the color appears to be the same, but the texture is off. This is a lower quality thread and lacks the sheen and smoothness of DMC, and the difference shows in my project. This thread also snags more easily.
