Description

Our live oak leaf litter is collected from 100% pesticide and herbicide free environments. Isopods should always have a constant source of leaf litter inside their enclosure. This allows them to consume the organic material over time, while offering shelter. Isopods will not only consume the leafs, but often prefer to hide underneath them. It looks great in a naturalistic vivarium as well. Our live oak leaves break down over time and will eventually be consumed by any isopods in the enclosure. Leaf litter plays a very important role in a naturalistic vivarium as well as any isopod enclosure. The leaf litter provides shelter, visual barriers, and hiding places for the inhabitants. Each live oak leaf also puts nutrients back into the environment, providing plants and microfauna with food needed to thrive! One gallon of leaf litter will cover approximately 1.5 square feet to the desired depth of 1 inch.

  • Best size and quality available! Best size and quality available!
Size: 1 Gallon
I have purchased every bag of leaf litter available on amazon. This is the best! I have multiple isopod colonies that eat through their bedding fast. Not only is this bag the biggest and best value available, the quality of the actual leaves are top notch. About 95% percent of the leaves arrived whole and the rest is breaking down into smaller bits. This is perfect for vivarium, isopods or other little critters. The leaves were also very clean with no visable debris. As always, boil your leaf litter for about 10 minutes, strain and let cool before use. Just good husbandry advice. This bag is enough for me to cover two 5 gallon tanks, about 3 times each, for medium sized isopod colonies. They are housed with other critter soil on the bottom, and this leaf litter for a topping/hide/snack option. Helps keep the humidity up as well. I feed my colonies with Morning Wood from Repashy, wich probably helps with keeping the leaf litter around longer. Have fun out there! ... show more

  • Great quality leaf litter Great quality leaf litter
Size: 1 Gallon
Leaves came quickly and in great condition. Some reviews mentioned a burnt smell but there was none in my bag, it smelled like really good oak leaves. I inspected random leaves in the bag and they seem sterile and great quality. I used them in my 29 gallon dart frog vivarium and froglet grow out bin. Absolutely will buy again when I need more. Bag came super packed and definitely seemed like a gallon. Pic of bag is after I put some in my grow out bin. ... show more

  • I love this leaf litter I love this leaf litter
Size: 1 Gallon
I love this leaf litter. Its a good price and it smells lovely. I use it in my jumping spider enclosures, my tarantula enclosure, my fish tank, my snail tank, and I am going to use it in a terrarium I'm building. I will warn you: if you use them in a tank, they release a TON of tannins. I reduced this by soaking the leaves for about 2 days, draining the water, rinsing the leaves, and then adding them to my tank. I love the look. It gives my veg eating fish something to munch on and gives such a cool natural look. They also help in my jumping spider enclosures with keeping moisture in the soil. ... show more

  • They work! They work!
Size: 1 Gallon
Our gecko seems to like the leaves in her home. Makes her terrarium more natural. Can’t complain. Comes with a large amount and arrives in great condition (rather than all broken into pieces). Love the color it adds to her space.
