This gets the job DONE. I had a $500+ Bushnell that I lost, and replaced it with this. I have zero clue why I spent so much money on the Bushnell. The Precision Pro has been reliable and locks in quick. I noticed no difference in accuracy or lock precision between this and the bushnell.

I have been using Garmin GPS devices for the past 10 years (or so), but I have never tried a range finder. My current device is a Garmin Approach S60 (Watch) that was $399. I wanted to try a range finder out, mostly to compare it to my GPS watch for accuracy. As a mid-to-low handicapper, accuracy is important but I do not require pinpoint precision. The Garmin S60 allows you to move the flag around, so if you have a rough idea of where the flag is (Front, Mid, Back / Left, Mid, Right) you can get fairly accurate results. After researching various brands at different price ranges, I settled on the Precision Pro NX7 Pro Slope. My comments below are going to compare the Precision Pro NX7 to my GPS Watch experience. Ease of Use - The NX7 is very easy to use. I didn't even need to look at the user manual before using it for the first time. Took about 2 minutes to figure out how to get the yardage. The Garmin S60, as any tech device, can be finicky and does require a lot more effort to figure out as it has a lot more features. Having upgraded from a previous Garmin device, there wasn't much learning curve. Durability - The NX7 is very light weight and comes with a nice carrying case, as well as a strap. While I have not dropped it, I'm assuming one good fall on a cart path and you are going to be in trouble. The Garmin S60 watch, which I wear almost daily (for golf and as a daily watch), has held up great over the past couple years. It does require some cleaning, about twice a year. Accuracy / Speed - The NX7 is pretty accurate. On holes where I could tell where the flag was, I would position the flag on the Garmin S60 and compare the yardage. For the most part, the two devices were within a few yards. I don't think there were many holes where the two devices were so far apart it impacted my club selection. There were a lot of times with the NX7 I would have to take the measurement multiple times because it was picking up on things behind it. These were the times I would find myself looking at my watch because the yardage seemed very off. I found myself taking the yardage multiple times on each shot just to make sure it was consistent. With that being said, the Garmin S60 is definitely faster. As soon as you get out of the cart, you can look at the watch and see the yardage. It only takes a few seconds with the green view to position the flag and get the yardage. I don't think the NX7 was faster. Non-Flag Yardages - The NX7 doesn't seem to get the yardages very well for things that are not flag sticks. With the Garmin S60, you can go into map view and move the target to see yardages to hazards or layups. It will also show you distance to front/mid/back of the green on each shot. Line of Sight - The NX7 requires line of sight in order to work. If you are in the woods or there is a tree in your way, it makes it very hard to get a yardage at all. With the Garmin S60, you will always have the yardage no matter where you are or what is in front of you. Overall: I was very impressed with the NX7 rangefinder. A lot of my complaints are not specific to the NX7, but rangefinders in general. As to which one I would prefer, I would be leaning towards the GPS device. It is faster, fairly accurate, and will work no matter where you are on the course. For me, I think a rangefinder would be a good supplement to my GPS device, but it's hard to justify $250+ on a supplemental device. At the end of the day, I would much rather have my GPS device than the rangefinder.

If you don't want to get into the pricey range finders over $400, this is a great value. It doesn't have the scan feature, and doesn't have a "pin lock" feature, but it seems to hit targets much easier than the one this replaced. The case is decent enough and the magnet (could be stronger) works well enough.

I already own a Bushnell Tour V4 non slope version and am happy with that unit. I purchased this Precision Pro NX7 Pro with Slope during an Amazon Prime Day sale because I always wanted a rangefinder with slope. For this review I will refer to the Precision Pro unit as NX7 and the Bushnell unit as V4. Comparing the build of the units, the assembly quality of both units is good. The NX7 does use cheaper material and it is noticeable in the feel, but this is not a deal breaker – it is nicely made. The NX7 is lighter in weight and feels good in my hands. It comes with a very nice case that rivals the V4 case. Comparing the function of the units, Bushnell users will have to make a small adjustment. For the NX7, you push the button and let it go and the unit will scan until it locks onto the target. On the Bushnell units, it requires you to hold the button down until the units locks onto the target. It is a minor adjustment and not a deal breaker either. The performance is really where you will notice the difference, and it is here where you see the difference in what you pay for. I normally wear glasses so being able to see through the eyepiece is a concern. With the V4, I have no problem viewing the entire screen and its information. With the NX7, the eye relief on the rear optic is a little short. In order to get a decent view, I must move it around until I can see most of the information in the viewfinder, but I was never able to see the entire screen like I could with the V4. So, the NX7 is not the friendliest for eyeglass wearers as compared to the V4. As for getting measurements, with the V4, the unit will vibrate when it locks onto the flag on the pin. If it locks onto anything else but the flag, it will give you a reading but, it will not vibrate. Three samples on the same hole yielded the exact same yardage reading. With the NX7, it will vibrate when it locks onto a target, but it is not necessarily the flag. On the same hole as I used for the V4, I needed to take 5 sample readings because I got different readings. For the V4, I got 128 yards on all three measurement attempts. With the NX7 I got 127, 126, 224, 225 and 224 again. Although the secondary reading was off, it was consistent with each other, and I have no idea what it was locking onto. The NX7 vibrated all five times. This happened on a few of the other holes on the course. Fortunately, the two sets of measurements were far enough apart that it was not difficult to decide which one to use. If you are in the market for a rangefinder, but do not want to spend the money for any of the Bushnell or similarly high-priced units and you are willing to sort through which measurements to use, then the NX7 by Precision Pro is a good choice. I am not going to return mine because I am willing to put up with it so I can have the slope readings. Would I buy it again? If I do not want to spend the money on a Bushnell, yes. I gave it five stars to rate it with other lower cost rangefinders. If I rated it against one of the more expensive units, that would not be fair. That would not be comparing apples to apples. Would I recommend it to a friend? I would, but I would make sure they understand what to expect to get the measurements they want.
