The set came with clear instructions and with the more specialized parts (miter bars and screws) -- you supply and cut the rest, namely a piece of plywood. The T-track and knob are not strictly necessary (you can set up a stop block with a leftover block of wood and any C clamp), but useful all the same. The price is very reasonable. The instructions are very clear and helpful. For beginners on a table saw, they also give an example of how to make sure that any jig you build (and, by extension, your future projects) will provide the same level of precision as your table saw -- a good introduction to the world of woodworking. To make use of this kit, you'll need a tablesaw, a 2'x2' or 2'x4' piece of sanded 1/2" or 3/4" plywood (what big box stores call "project panels"). Highly recommended to any beginner -- anyone progressing beyond that stage will already have a few sleds for crosscuts, 45deg bevels, finger joints, etc. ... show more

While the end product mostly works fine, you're going to put a few hours into building this. Note that not only do you have to supply most of your own screws (the ones they provide are only for the metal tracks), it instructs to use your miter table to create a track in some spare wood. Hope you have a router table handy! Also, some of the instructions are in the wrong order, and the dimensions for the guard box make no sense. "Use scrap pieces of stock, the 1/4"-20 x 1-1/2" star knob and hex head bolt, 1/4"-20 x 1-1/2" to make a stop block." Huh?? ... show more

Size: Table Saw Miter Gauge System
I own a DeWalt DWE7485 table saw. This miter gauge could be set to zero side-to-side play for my saw, so that is good. By zero play, I mean the fit could be adjusted so that you could not even push the bar forward - and you could back off the adjustment slightly so then it could move forward. There was some dip in the nose of the bar as you pushed forward - better than the JessEm Mite-R-Excel II, which dipped a lot, but not as good as the SawStop Revolution, which did not dip in my table saw. Ultimately, I did not keep this product as there was something better for my particular saw and my wants, but I could see people being satisfied with this product. If I see POWERTEC on other products I would consider purchasing them based on my positive experience here. If numbers are helpful, test cuts measured by a digital angle gauge were getting a variance of .3 to .6 degrees to the miter gauge's settings. Adjusting the blade of the table saw could have given even greater precision, and that may be recommended upon first setup if you desire more precision as this miter gauge has no Vernier scale at the time of this writing. I noted the instructions say to refer to an addendum when assembling the flip stop. This tells me they are thinking ahead and when they some day include a micro adjuster or other features to their flip stop they will not have to modify the instructions for the main unit.
