I purchased this tool primarily to cut large tree roots in order to remove stumps. Please be advised that in order to do so, I had to purchase long blades made for wood, the supplied blades were not suitable for this specific purpose. You could utilize the supplied blades if your intention is to cut smaller roots, however. The roots I cut were over 6 inches in diameter. This tool performed extremely well at cutting large roots. My only complaint is the battery life, which I felt was too short. If you are digging out a large stump with multiple large roots, you'll have to charge it a few times. Not a big deal, but worth noting. This tool is definitely durable and a real workhorse. In addition to cutting large tree roots, I used it to cut metal pipes with the blades that were included, and it cut them with ease. I also used this tool to cut branches from trees. Overall, I think this was a good purchase and worth the price. This is a tool I anticipate using in the future for multiple home applications. If your goal is to cut tree roots, this tool will do an excellent job and save you a tremendous amount of time and effort. It costs a few hundred dollars to hire someone to grind a stump, but you can dig the stump yourself and have the job done right for the cost of this tool and a little bit of your own time. ... show more

BEST PRODUCT - EXCELLENT TOOL. After using this electric saw for many projects, this tool is proved to be great tool with high performance. I am very satisfy with this tool and I think I should give credit to manufacturers. I was looking for electric saw and drill to be used for my carpentry projects ( Interior home improvement and garage repair projects ) . I browsed online and amazon website, to find reliable and robust electric saw. I found many electric saw brands here on Amazon website. All brands are good ones (Craftsman, Black-& Decker, etc.). But this "PowerSmart Reciprocating Saw" is very special and standing out among other brands. I purchased and use it for my wall installation projects, vehicle garage patch-up and wooden shed repair. This tool is working very well (Cutting many woods, plywood) and performing great ( cutting large holes in the wall. The package comes with 2 saw blades. But I purchased additional saw blade set (10 pieces set at $12) in order to use for heavy cutting of 4 x 5" hardwood, plywood and pipes at my house. This "PowerSmart Reciprocating Saw" has these outstanding good qualities: (1) It is powerful cutting tool (for wood slabs, bars, pipes and plywood) (2) I can cut rectangular or circular holes (openings) on the wall in any way I wanted. (3) It cuts fast and neatly with fine edges (also produces Less splinted wood pieces) (4) It is TRUE that it takes only 1 hour to charge empty battery form 0% to 100% fully charged. ( After multiple cuts, I re-charged the battery and it took only 5 min get it to full power) (5) I saw 1 STAR REVIW said that battery can last only for 1 min use. It is NOT true. Battery lasted much more than 1 min. After battery is fully charged, at about 15 min intervals, I use this tool for cutting many woods for 4 hours without needing to re-charge the battery. I will give 5 STAR to this product. (6) This "PowerSmart Reciprocating Saw" gun design also look cool. Better gun design than other brand tools. (7) This is a cordless and rechargeable saw so I can bring it on my car, drove to another house and use it. (8) Most importantly, it is a reliable product at affordable price. It is worth paying for this good tool. So, if you are looking for good electric saw - I strongly recommend to choose this tool. Because it is perfect and powerful electric saw with affordable price.     • The blade falls out in the middle of cutting thru boards.
When I used it, the blade would come out completely when cutting thru boards. Especially when there’s a nail in the way. Just rips the blade right out. Now it just hangs Jon the garage wall
