Description

We see a future built on great brands, products, and people. In every facet of our business, we leverage the strengths of our global infrastructure to maximize the benefits of all three. From the Manufacturer The 64B table saw, with left tilt arbor, offers 1-3/4 horsepower in dual voltage to meet the demands of the professional contractor. The transparent blade guard has independent leaves, and the quick release riving knife reduces chance of kickback. A low profile riving knife is included for non-through cuts. An arbor lock is accessed from above the table, eliminating the need for dual blade wrenches. The T-slot miter gauge has rack-and-pinion angle setting, positive stops, and extension plate for expanded workpiece support. The 64B has cast iron table and wings with front edge bevel, and the working area is further expanded by the melamine-surfaced wood extension table. The exclusive Accu-Fence® system is available in 30? or 50? rip cut capacity. Storage hooks on the stand keep your accessories within reach.

  • Nothing but problems with the 115 volt model
Style: Fence with Riving Knife
I needed to replace my Delta - a saw that I had used commercially for 20 years. It was so old, that some of the parts were no longer available. I decided to take a "step up" to Powermatic. I won't go into the issues of actually getting the saw delivered three months after I ordered it. Allegedly the long delay was a result of the pandemic. But, once it arrived the problems began. I did not have 220 in my shop, so I ordered it set up for 115 volts. First of all, the arbor lock for changing the blade was snapped off, so I had to use a center punch in the hole to achieve that basic task. When the new blade was on, I pushed the on switch and nothing happened. So, I pushed the overload switch - still nothing. I checked the circuit breaker in the main, and it was tripped. I turned it back on, and the saw started up. But, that happened a few more times later on. Next, my Jet dust collector did not seem to be pulling much dust after just the first couple of cuts. When I checked inside the saw, the outlet for the dust collection was clogged. On further inspection, although the dust outlet on the back of the saw is a standard 4" port, but the duct hose inside the saw is just 2". Plus, when it was assembled, an overly long hose was used, so it was kinked. No wonder it was clogged. After basically standing on my head for an hour I finally got it cut to the right length and re-connected. It worked better, but still clogged frequently. Then, after about a dozen rips of 8' x 1 1/2" yellow pine, the overload switch on the motor tripped and the motor was hot to the touch. I had a new blade, and was not forcing the material through. This continued to happen, so I contacted the seller who gave me the service number for Powermatic. When I was finally able to get through, I was told that perhaps the running capacitor was faulty, and they sent me a new one - wrong part. I called again and they sent another one - a different one, but still not the one for my saw. Third time they got it right. I installed the new capacitor: same problem. The overload tripped after just a few cuts. I called again, and they sent me a new overload switch. By this time, I was beginning to believe that the 115volt model was just not gong to ever work properly. I went to the trouble and expense of running a new 220 volt circuit to my shop and re-wired the motor for 220. So far so good for a few cuts, but I have yet to do a production run to see if the over-heating problem has been solved. Now, back to the dust collection before the over-heating problem: There is a shroud over the blade where the dust hose connects. It is a sheet of very flimsy plastic. This shattered just a few weeks after I got the saw. It took 6 weeks and $50 to replace it. I have still not installed it, because I am considering fabricating a metal version. So, if you plan to buy the Powermatic Model 64B 10" table saw (I would not recommend it), be sure to go with the 220volt model. ... show more

  • Outstanding saw for someone who wants accuracy but not the size and weight of a cabinet saw.
Style: Fence with Riving Knife
I sold my beloved 220V 3HP Powermatic 66 to the person who bought my house in Illinois and I built a new wood shop in the 3rd bay of my garage in Colorado. I didn't want to go 220V and I wanted a smaller more portable saw. I really liked the Accufence on my big cabinet saw and when I saw the contractor version with the same fence with 110V I knew that was what I wanted. In the pictures, the fence on the 220V version looks exactly like the fence on the 110V version except the 110V version is 3/4 the height and tube size of the 220V version. It's just like a 3/4 size guitar compared to a regular guitar, same-same only a little smaller. Just as accurate and easy to tune in. My saw had a slight bowl from cast iron edge to edge. I may take the wings off and try putting a thin piece of paper on the top of the bolts between the wing and table to flatten the slight bowl effect. That's a trick they don't give you in the manual. Accurate table saws are all about getting the miter slot dead parallel to the blade and getting the back of the fence 1 or 2 thousands out of parallel to the blade so your work does not hit the back of the blade leaving the saw. I was able to achieve this accuracy using a Masterplate (a machined aluminum plate installed in place of the blade). And a Superbar, which is a micrometer that rides in a bar that adjusts to the exact width of your miter slot. It takes a lot of patience and bumping back and forth but I got my miter slot to blade dead parallel, then I used the Superbar against the face of the fence to adjust the back out 2 thousands. Once I got the pointer on the ruler on the tube adjusted, I was ripping 2 1/2 inch thick Paduk accurately right out of the box. I used a Forrest Woodworker II thin kerf blade and I have not even come close to bogging down the saw. It's not a 200V 3HP but it has plenty of power to do anything I need it to do with ease at 110V. The miter gauge works very well. The built in dust collection box does a good job sucking dust from below but if you are ripping without an overhead dust collection device you are going to get some dust from the forward spinning blade. The dust collection box tube under the saw has a sharp curve in the tube before it attaches to the port on the back of the saw and there is a quite a gap between the blade the the edge of the throat plate so cutting thin strips off means you have to pull them out of there bottom of the box from the inside because the thin strips can't make the sharp turn in the tubing. This can greatly affect dust collection if it gets plugged up with debris as I found out. I'm looking for a zero clearance throat plate to fix that one and only problem. The main reason I bought Powermatic again was the superior quality of machining and how well it's put together. The cast iron top is beautiful and heavy. The quality of the hand wheels will impress and the ease of raising the and tilting is amazing compared to a cabinet saw. The stand is rock solid. At 380 pounds this isn't a flimsy contractor saw. It is a great alternative to a cabinet saw. One issue is the throat plate has a larger than necessary opening so small cutoff strips fall down into the dust shroud which are not easy to dig out. Normally, I would just buy a zero clearance throat plate. I looked high and low and no one makes one for this saw. So I ordered a 3/8 inch thick phenolic sheet to make my own. I highly recommend doing this for ease of use and safety. ... show more

  • Good saw but needs more quality control for small parts.
Style: Fence with Riving Knife
Setup, including an optional dolley, took about 10 person-hours, including a couple of hardware store trips to obtain about 10 missing bolts. The cast table extensions have over-sized bolt holes, probably to allow for adjustment. I filled them with inserts for a tighter fit and the alignment was perfect. The instructions describe legs for the wooden extension, but they were also missing. However, the instructions call for angling them down to the dolley anyway, and this would not add much stability, so I just skipped them. Be sure to look in the hollow rail for spare parts, including an endcap that I missed and found difficult to retrieve after the rail was installed. So far I've cut only pine and plywood - very satisfactorily - and for that 110 volts was sufficient. Almost surely you will need a 20 amp circuit, however. Can't say what will happen with hardwood. I didn't find a vacuum hose adapter to fit, but some Gorilla Tape seems to be solving the problem. In early use, it seems good value for the price; I would buy it again. ... show more
