  • Outstanding machine at an outstanding price.
With limited space for a home gym this fits the necessary profile. Both economical, and well-constructed. After reading several reviews I would like to address some concerns: 1. Assembly: True, the directions are noting more than a schematic diagram. That stated, if you take your time, the degree of difficulty is minimized. 2. Parts missing: Like all products labeled "some assembly required, it's inventible that on crucial puzzle piece is missing. In my case, it happened to be a bully-bushing. Did it ruin my day...not really. I contacted Powerline; they were prompt in answering my telephone call. Not only professional, they apologized for the inconvenience. Adding to this, they shipped the replacement part, and it arrived in two-days. Just like that, problem solved. 3. The naysayers: Is this a machine you will find in a commercial gym? Probably not. That stated, it serves the intended purpose, and does it well. Sure, the seat is small, and the foam padding is not industrial quality, but you get what you pay for. In this case, I got a machine that is well-constructed, and serves the purpose. 4. Top-heavy: I have read the suggestions of adding sandbags to the back of the machine to offer stability. This can be an issue when using the lower pulley. In my case, I chose placing a 2X6 between the ceiling joists of my basement. The board rests against the front of the top crossmember on the machine. Again, home gyms require thing outside of the box, and problem solving skills. 5. No olympic collars: This is true, however I have found that using good form, and ensuring the weights are properly seated, this is not a huge issue. Again, this is a lat-machine that is offered at an economical price. There are certain "bells and whistles" that are omitted. Final-thoughts: This is an outstanding machine for the price. The minor inconvenience of a missing part was easily rectified, and Powerline was a pleasure to work with. I look forward to several years of a dependable machine that does not take up a huge space, nor drain your wallet. ... show more

  • Excellent
We have a body solid leg raise/curl bench and added this too the home gym. It is wonderful and works very well for us. I ordered a few extra attachments from Amazon too but this is well made. Do not buy a cheap lat pulldown, you will regret it. This one works and is smooth!

  • Movements feel exactly like the one at the gym!
I was skeptical when I bought this as I id not know if it would have a cheap squeaky or wobbly action. I was really happy when I did my first set of tricep push downs! Strong, steady fluid action. Exact same motion as an expensive piece of gym equipment. The only negatives were: (1) the directions had a good parts list and explosed assemply instructions but there is no "lego" step by step instructions. I just checked to see all the parts were there (some of the rubber bushings may be hiding inside the rubber grips etc) and then followed the exploded instructions. The assembly did not take too long - hour or so. I recommend assembly from the floor up as there are no clear instructions in that way and that way you can avoid having to take something apart. (2) the bars it comes with a lat pull down and a push down, curl or row bar are really basic sort of crude but they do work. I bought a chrome lat bar and that kit that has a rope and two other chrome handles and I also bought a bigger caribeener to make changing bars easier. Also make sure you leave a counter weight of ten or more pounds on at all times or the lat pull down bar will pull down/fall down. Allin all this is a sturdy piece of equipment and a must have for any serious attempt at a home gym. I really like it and i am glad I bought it! ... show more

  • Great machine for a home gym
This is the second piece of equipment from this company and, like the previous purchase, this lived up to expectations. The boxes (2) arrived when expected. One box was damaged but the contents was unharmed. One minor part was missing but it was not needed to complete the construction or to use the product. All the parts were in good condition. The first "con" is that the assembly instructions were simply an "exploded" chart and a parts list. The parts list was well designed because it listed the parts and the dimensions of bolts so that I could tell which ones were which. I'm really bad at putting things together but I figured this out. In the future it would be nice if they broke the chart in to three sections: 1 - the basic assembly; 2 - attaching the weight bar assembly; 3 - finishing up with the remaining assembly. My only problem was that a few steps needed to be performed before others and so I needed to take some parts off and re-do the assembly. Not a big deal. Once assembled I added some adapter collars that I had also ordered and using some clips that I already had I was able to hook up the cable-attached handle, add some plates, and start exercising. The motion is smooth and I detected no vibrations. I sprayed the glide post (where the weights slide up/down) with WD40 and the action was even smoother and relatively quiet. I've been using this for a while and there are no issues. One other "con" is that when seated I can't extend my arms all the way up to stretch my back without bottoming-out the weight. I can get most of stretch so this doesn't affect the number of stars. The last "con" is that the d-rings that come with the cables are rather small. The problem is attaching the cables to the handles and the d-rings do not have enough room to rings correctly. I had a couple larger d-rings and they worked much better. The machine comes with a long bar and a shorter bar so you really don't need to buy any accessories in order to use this effectively. The exception is that the posts are sized for 1-inch plates so if you have 2-inch plates they will either be loose or you will need to buy/use adapters. In summary: "Pros" 1 - This is much cheaper than other machines of this type. 2 - It is not difficult to put together. 3 - It doesn't take up much room. 4 - You can perform a lot of different exercises. "Cons" 2 - The assembly instruction aren't very good but can still be followed to get the machine put together. 2 - The d-rings are too small. 3 - The machine may not be high enough for someone with really long arms. They can still use it but stretching on lat pull downs might be difficult. All in all this is worth the price and if it is like another machine by the same company then it will probably last a long time. ... show more
