  • Like that it's wireless
Have bought this one 3 times and the first 2 we had to replace within 6 months because Nintendo just doesn't make amazing quality controllers. It is one of the only wireless ones for the switch and my husband prefers the gamecube style.

  • Best pro controller option for the switch!
Best pro controller option for the switch! I’ve always been a fan of the layout of the game cube controller. The controller has a very nice feeling to hand and actually I have found to be better to use in shooters like Doom than the pro controller (even has superior motion control support). I think the extra resistance on the analog sticks has a lot to do with it. The only thing that some people may not like is that the trigger buttons do you have a lot of travel before the tactile click that actuates them. Best way to work around it is to keep them depressed while holding the controller so that you just have to apply a little pressure to get past the bump at the end of the travel. It’s a shame that the switch doesn’t support progressive travel on their triggers because it would make these really ideal for racing games due to the immense amount of travel. The fact that this controller has all of the buttons needed to play any game, it’s not just limited to smash brothers. Another thing that makes this controllers superior to the pro controller and a lot of other third-party controllers is the fact that the plus, minus, picture, and home buttons or actually raised rather than flush with the face of the controller which makes them much easier to access. For games that require access to the menu on a regular basis having those buttons raised makes them far more accessible. The only downside is the lack of rumble , which for me is not a big deal but there are some games where it does play a part where I kind of miss it. Honestly I miss the weight of the rumble motors more than the rumble itself. This will actually replace my pro controller as my go to controller going forward, the only thing I might do to it to make it more well-rounded is to replace the C stick with the same analog stick as on the left side and while I have it open perhaps add something to the grips to give it a little more weight. Another great thing about these controllers which haven’t been mentioned a lot is the fact that, just like the enhanced controller that powera also makes, this is one of the few, if not the only third-party wireless controller for the switch that can actually turn on the switch with the menu button. Many others require you to use another controller to turn it on and then pair the controller. Every review that I’ve seen for this controller has commented on the fact that it takes batteries as a negative. As someone that has never had a problem with the Xbox still using batteries I have always had a drawer full of them so it’s no problem for me, the battery life is quite long however I don’t think the controller has any indicator when the battery is low and that would be the only downside in terms of the batteries. Since the switch controllers don’t use batteries it doesn’t register the battery level of this controller so as far as I can tell there’s no way to tell when the batteries are low. Overall, in my opinion, the best pro controller option for the switch to date. Why four stars you ask? Mainly because the picture in the description says that these are purple and really the color is blue or rather indigo, Definitely not even close to being purple ( see my pic of the comptroller next to a purple xbox one controller) But that aside, and absolutely fantastic controller! ... show more

  • Best GameCube controller on Amazon
What can I say? It's a wireless GameCube Controller. It's a dream come true. Everything you can enjoy about a GameCube Controller, you'll find here. It reminds me of the controller I played back in 2002. It's truly satisfying to hold and use. It does have drawbacks. You will need to buy AA Batteries. Rechargable AA's aren't the end of the world, and this controller doesn't drain batteries too quickly, even when you spend hours mashing a button to skip dialogues My biggest complaint is just the placement of the start, select, home, and photo buttons. They're all in the middle, and let me tell you. You will press the wrong button so many times. Most pro controllers don't have this issue, and some games are just easier on pro controller than GameCube. Games like Legends of Arceus for instance. In terms of the material, the feel, the faithfulness to GameCube controller form factor, this controller feels just like Nintendo quality controllers. If you want a good general purpose controller, you can trust this controller, but it isn't the best. If you don't want to buy an adapter, or want a controller that connects quick and easy when you're visiting friends, this is the best GameCube style controller you can buy on this site for the money. Give it a try. ... show more

  • Definitely an underappreciated controller for Smash
So, like many others purchasing this, I intended to use this as my main controller for Smash. Let me just get it out of the way right now: if you're looking for a controller to use through tournaments, this isn't it. What this IS though, is a really really good alternative to using the wired Game Cube controller and/or Pro Controller. I used the pro controller, the original Game Cube controller, and this. Out of all three, this is by far my favorite. One of the main critiques I've seen people give about the controller, is that the shoulder buttons are digital, not analog. Yes, this will create a bit of a delay when shielding or dodging, but as a remedy for this, PowerA reduced the travel time for the button to actuate. This reduces the delay, while also keeping some of the travel time that the traditional controllers have. Another issue some people have mentioned, is that it runs on AA batteries rather than being charged. I personally don't mind this, as I use rechargeable AA batteries, so the controller never needs to be tethered by using a charger or costing more money by purchasing AA batteries constantly. I highly recommend getting rechargeable AA batteries! Even with it using batteries, I've used it for nearly two weeks now with constant use since we're in quarantine right now, and it's not died once. Compared to the Pro Controller which needed to be charged after around three days of use. The controller itself is a really nice weight, the build is pretty sturdy, and best of all, it supports motion controls AND has all the button functionalities of the Pro Controller (yes, I'm looking at you Nintendo, why would you leave out necessary buttons for the Switch on your updated Game Cube controllers!?) so gone is the issue of needing your joycon near you to access the home screen. It's also capable of powering on the Switch from sleep mode, a really nice touch. So in conclusion, this is a really nice controller for dedicated Smash players. I would go as far as to say it's usable in tournament, but the Analog shoulder buttons would provide a slight advantage on the original Game Cube controllers. I think anyone who enjoys being wireless, while also having a good Smash controller, NEEDS this. It's definitely worth it. Especially if you get it on sale (currently $36). ... show more
