  • Very nice controller, very good customer support when needed
Color: Black
I bought this controller in June 2023 as I was getting tired of always having to replace batteries (recharges yeah, but still a pain). I enjoyed using this model. The assignable colors are a cool feature, and it has programmable paddles on the bottom that I use for the sprint function in my games. 7 months later I noticed the right bumper no longer functioning. For gamers, this is the equivalent of a non-functional controller. I contacted the PowerA customer support group about my problem, they asked for a few pictures of the controller and copy of my order and promptly sent a replacement (actually the newer version which can control external LEDs). 4 days later and I'm back in business. Nice job! ... show more

  • Works for me, darn good controller.
Color: Black
You know, it works and feels solid. I have 4 OEM controllers laying around - all dead from either falling and landing on the USB plug damaging the socket or the stupid non-replaceable left analog stick goes nuts. Actually, both. Yes, the stick can be fixed via creative replacement but it's dumb. USB socket not so easy. So. This PowerA controller is half the price of a Microsoft controller; it has the same heft and feel as an OEM one. Pros: weight is nice response is almost too fast but I think I just need to get used to it. Customizable settings, which isn't a big deal for me but I like options. The design of recessing the USB port is genius. Should the controller fall the stress will not be on the socket. I haven't tried the accompanying USB cable with the breakaway but that's a nice touch too. I'm on the fence with the LED lighting; it's basically a novelty for me. Bleed-over between zones makes setting color schemes tenuous at best. I chuckle because the very center buttons are opaque black when they could've had everything light up without doing anything (see bleed-over above) just by making the buttons clear with embossing. Cons: None yet; only been using it for about 2 weeks. I'm sure the joysticks are going to crap out at some time, but I expect that. Overall, I like this as a replacement at half the price of a Microsoft controller. Looks like it's compatible with the next-gen Xbox so I'll have a spare when I get that. I might even get an extra one now to have a extra for friends. ... show more

  • I wish they stuck with this design
Color: White
The controller is very solid. The trigger stops and back buttons are what I was shopping for, and they deliver. The buttons aren't flimsy and are very responsive. The trigger stops are only useful for me at max or off, based off my fixation for fps and racing games. The standard buttons and sticks are fine, no drifting issues or sticking. The LED's surprised me, because each zone is mostly bright and colorful other than near the bottom grips. Now the reason for my title, the cable system. I wish they didn't stray away from the cord locking system with the newer designs. I prefer this design of locking tabs at each side, even though it's Micro USB instead of USB-C. It's such a great controller that's hard to find this version in stock new. ... show more

  • Great controller, but the bumpers need fixing.
Color: Black
TL;DR - It's a nice controller, but a thin piece of plastic that the L/R bumpers depend on isn't as strong as it should be and is prone to breakage and bending. To start off, it's a wonderful controller. The power over the LED lights is nice, it feels good to hold, controls feel smooth, and it just feels generally good to USE. HOWEVER, there is a fundamental issue with the controller, specifically in regard to the left and right bumpers. This appears to be consistent with some other buyers, and I personally encountered this issue after around 8 months of use. While playing, I noticed that the right bumper only seemed to work around half of the time, but I could change that by pressing it in a different location. Then, it started to make a particularly loud clicking sound. Moments later, it stopped working entirely. I looked through PowerA's limited warranty, and they unfortunately do not cover basic wear and tear. I eventually gave up trying to have them repair it (after more research), and decided to try and fix it myself. Upon disassembling the controller, I discovered that the left and right bumpers are ultimately a simple mechanism designed to press a small button. The part that actually interacts with the button is a thin piece of plastic, covered with a small pad. In my case, the pad had fallen off, and the plastic piece's end could not properly reach the button. While trying to create an avant-garde replacement, I discovered another thing: the thin piece of plastic of which the pad was on had bent backwards, and was on the verge of snapping completely. I hadn't noticed this until I had accidentally broken it by just touching it wrong, unfortunately. I fixed it up with some glue and using some duct tape as the "pad", and it works fine again now. Ultimately, the piece of plastic of which interacts with the L/R bumper buttons is far too flimsy, and will probably bend for most users after enough time if used enough. Besides this one issue, I have almost zero problems with the rest of the controller. ... show more
