I purchased this adapter for a lighting project in a remote barn location. I wanted to be able to just click in an 18v battery and have lights. This adapter is perfect. The photo is my bench test using a 12v light bulb. It is crazy bright, has an on/off switch, and at the time of this photo had been powering the bulb for over 6 hours with the pack showing over 50% left. I can't wait to wire it up in the barn! The only potential negative is the battery insert effort is strong, so mine required an extra bit of strength to seat it on the battery. To me that is a positive so it never pops off, but be aware it takes more effort to seat than a standard tool does. ... show more

I bought this to complete a battery powered lighting project in my shed. I didn't want to run a trench with 120v to the shed, so this was the next best option with all of my extra Ryobi batteries that I have acquired over the years. The only thing I wish this had were mounting holes. I had to drill a couple of holes in the housing of the battery adapter to mount it to the box I used. The plastic is pretty thin, so even a step bit was tricky to get a screw to mount flush enough to leave room for the battery to seat properly. In all, this has worked much better than the first one I bought from the direct from China site that fell apart immediately. The battery sits in flush and the power supplies my fuse panel that powers my lights and switches. They use relatively beefy 14 gauge stranded wire so it will support most applications anyone is going to use this for. ... show more

For what I needed this for, the fuses would pop very quickly if not immediately. I cut the wire to remove the fuse/switch. Once I had everything connected back up it works perfect. Will be buying another in the best future for another project.

It fit on my ryobi batteries without a problem. The switch is horribly design. Out of the box the switch would not work at all. I opened up the switch and saw how bad it's design is. I soldered on new wires without the included switch and it works great now. If you're buying this than bypassing the switch shouldn't be a big deal. ... show more
