    • So Far So Good - Noise Came Back

Edit: 09/29/22. Driven these about 5-6K miles. The squeal went away after a few weeks I think, but they are noisier than previous pads that I've had. I do get an occasional squeal and can feel/hear some grinding sometimes. If you're on a budget and want the cheapest possible, you'll probably be okay with these. They did NOT wear a groove in the rotor like my old pads did, so I'm happy about that. But I took a star off down to 3. In the future I'm going to try and grab the Akebono Pro-Act pads again if I can get them on sale. If I can't, I may buy these again. They're not that bad, you just get what you pay for. Edit: I'm taking a star off because I think the brake noise came back. I think it's been like 1500 miles since I put them on. I still get a faint noise that i can hear now since the weather is warmer and I have my window down more often. It's not that big a deal, but I don't know if I'd buy these again. I usually buy the Akebono pads, and Centric or Wearever rotors, but decided to try something different and save a few bucks this time. Pads installation was straight forward. I did the recommended hard braking to bed them in somewhat after installation. On my way home, I heard brake squeal for the first time in like 10 years because I'd always used the Akebono and they never squealed and was pretty disappointed. But sometime in the few days afterwards the squeal went away. They stop as expected. Nothing special. Would recommend them as a cheaper alternative to the Akebono Pro-Act. I bought them because they had the brake shims and the squealers already built into the pad. I always squeeze a little bit of red brake quiet on the back of the pads. Don't know if it does anything, but I never have squealing brakes, so I continue to use it. ... show more

Bought the Power Stop 16-465 Z16 Evolution Front Ceramic Brake Pads for a 2011 Civcc along with the basic rotors. Washed the rotors well to get the cosmoline/ oil off of them and took it out to bed in the pads. Followed the normal routine of up to 30 then to almost stop then faster etc till I could smell the pads. drove for a mile or 2 at about 45 to let them cool off then did it again. By about the 3rd time car stops on a dime. Good bedding in the pads to cook off the glue without overheating makes or breaks a install. They are a good set of pads for a great price. You just can’t beat the quality of these pads for the price. I’ve even had higher end pads that don’t compare to these. Super quiet and extremely smooth! All my cars will be running these from now on. I didn’t get paid or incentivized for this review either, if I knew how to I for sure would. Lol.
