Description

These etudes must be used along with the Suzuki Violin School to learn and master different positions. Dr. Suzuki recommends that first position etudes be started when the student is working on Volume 2. The student should always be careful that fingers are placed before the bow moves. Dr. Suzuki repeatedly says, "One, fingers -- two, bow -- three, start." Since this is the first time the student plays an etude, the teacher needs to explain its purpose. Read more

  • Very helpful.
This is not my daughter's favorite practice book, but it does help her a lot. Then she can play "fun" songs better.

  • The best part is that it focuses only on the geography ...
I didn't expect it to be such a refresher course even for the intermediate-advanced violinist. The best part is that it focuses only on the geography of the fingerboard and the accuracy of the intonation. No fancy rhythm, bowings or dynamics. Just the fingers on the fingerboard and the intonation.

  • Disappointing
I was disappointed with this book. The regular Suzuki series is so thoughtfully graded, I hoped these etudes would be the same, but this aporoach did not seem well thought out to me. And I say this as an experienced string teacher of many years.

  • wonderful studies
These etudes never leave you, and are absolutely vital practice for any Suzuki student making their way through book 3 (truth be told, you can start these in late book 2!)
