  • Awesome Pencils
Did I need them? No. Are They Wonderful to Use? Yes. I have never used oil based pencils before and I have an extensive collection of various brands of wax based colored pencils. Everything from Pebeo and Crayola up to Prismacolor and Derwent. (I do not have Faber Castell or Caran D'ache). I had been eyeing this set out of curiosity for a while now since I do enjoy using the Posca paint pens, but I just couldn't justify the purchase. I jumped on this discounted deal and I have no regrets. The box they come in is adorable and though it will take up space on my desk when using it, is a lot more compact than other colored pencil tins I have used. I adore the design of the case and that it comes with a band to keep it closed, it reminds me of a bento! It's so much better than the tins with a flimsy plastic tray that spills the pencils all over, or or cardboard packaging you throw away and then have to buy another case to organize them in. The pencils themselves are on the thicker side and feel nice in the hand, sturdy, heavy, and made out of a nice wood. I was blown away by how smooth they are, I have not really found a pencil that comes close to the buttery texture of a Prismacolor, but I really feel these pencils have it. I have not tried sharpening them yet, so it remains to be seen what the potential for breakage is but the only crumbs that flaked off during swatching were the normal dusty pigment flakes expected of higher end pencils. I did not have any of the cores crumble or shatter even when I pressed really hard to burnish them. These are fabulous to blend and I very much look forward to using them. If I had one complaint, it would be that there are no color names on the pencil, and it is only on the plastic outer packaging that is made to be discarded. However, it is no a huge deal as the colors seem fairly easy to identify just by looking at the core., and as always, it is best to swatch it on scrap paper before putting marks on your actual artwork to be sure it's the color you want. ... show more

  • Top notch pencils Top notch pencils
Absolutely love these colored pencils. They look and feel top notch and they lay color so vividly and evenly. Out of all my prismacolor, polychromos, goldfaber, soulcolor and Kalour I like these the most. Just invest in a good sharpener as they are quite soft like prismacolor but much better build quality. ... show more

  • My current favorite pencil for general coloring
I wasn’t sure I needed more pencils, but I’ve always been pleased with pencils and pens from the Mitsubishi Uni/Uniball company. I am so glad I decided to try them. The color range is a little limited, with only 36 shades in the set - but sometimes having a smaller set like this is relaxing. They are a soft core pencil that glides onto the paper like a dream. They are very responsive to hand pressure so it’s easy to get light tones and dark tones with the same pencil. They sharpen nicely, but do dull a little quickly which is to be expected with soft core pencils. They have an effortless feel in use with no uncomfortable dragging along the paper or sticky buildup of wax as you layer. I like this set so well that I bought myself a second set as a back up before I told anybody else how much I liked them. I still use all different sorts and brands of pencils, but this brand and style is the one that I grab first thing in the morning when I just want to relax and enjoy coloring. If you already have a broad selection of pencils this should still be a welcome addition. If you are relatively new to coloring with pencils, this is a wonderful place to start and should keep you happy for a long time. ... show more

  • A must try A must try
These pencils are so creamy. They feel almost like a crayon going down on the paper. Blending is much more satisfying too. I really didn’t think anything was going to be better than the prisma color premieres but the Posca are pretty equal. The price is definitely much better.

  • Great color payoff
Cons: -you need to use a lot of pressure to get a lot of pigment. -because these pencils require more pressure, they wear down more quickly Pros: Highly pigment and blendable! If you don’t mind the two cons above, these pencils will give you a really nice color payoff! I’ve used Prismascolor, Faber-Castell, Crayola, etc. and these pencils are probably my favorite! ... show more

  • Very Nice!
I own just about every set of pencils out there, and wanted to give my feedback about these! Just for reference, my favorite pencils are Holbein, then I would say Prismas then Lyra. Just wanted to give a reference of what I like as a pencil, but Holbein is hands down my number one. I got these Poscas yesterday and immediately opened and started using. They are smooth, I really didn't notice crumbs, they sharpened nicely and held a point. I find them creamy and nice pigmentation. I would say these are just as nice as anything I own. I would say imo that they are very similar to Prismas. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. If you are hesitant, I think you would be happy with these. I would call myself a pencil snob, there isn't anything I don't have full sets of, and I'm glad to add these to the group. ... show more
