  • American Standard elongated Toilet Seat
This is a good quality toilet seat. Well constructed and attractive in its appearance. Matched my toilet ensembled and decor well.

  • Where's the beef?
Color: White
These are the worst built seats ever. After a year or so, perhaps if you're lucky before the "warranty" expires, but never my luck, they break where the lid is hinged to the seat. They need a better hinge that's beefier. This is an ongoing issue from many years ago that American Standard could have easily fixed but has not. I've moved a bunch due to my situation and flipping houses and over the last 10 or more years had to replace over a half dozen, all with the EXACT same flaw. Total junk! ... show more

  • Throw away the "designer" plastic seat that came with your Champion IV toilet and buy this one.
Color: White
Yes, I know. It's only a toilet seat. But let's face it. There are too many crappy things that we all have to put up with in life already. Remember that stupid jerk that started veering into your lane yesterday? You honked your horn at him to avoid an accident, and he had the gall to give YOU the finger! I hope he has a flat tire on the way home. And what about when we call the phone company to ask someone in Customer Service a quick question that could be answered in five seconds...but all we get is the option to go through a ten minute button-pushing-ceremony just to speak to a human being? With all that we have to put up with, don't all of us deserve the right to do our bathroom business without having to be annoyed by a poorly designed toilet seat? Of course we do. The American Standard Champion IV is a great toilet. But some of their models come with a plastic seat that's concealed by the lid when fully closed. Although the "concealed seat" design certainly looks sleek and stylish (Coco Chanel would have approved), it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to comfort and usability. How so? Well first of all, the plastic seat is much thicker and deeply contoured in the back (near the hinges) than in the front. While some people may find this design more comfortable, I certainly didn't. But the worst part of the design is that it forces you to sit more forward than you normally would. If you're male, sitting too far forward defeats the purpose of an elongated toilet (if you have male parts, you know what I'm talking about). So, what's the solution? Easy. Take off the old seat, throw it in the trash, and buy this seat instead. First of all, it's made of wood and feels more substantial. But more importantly, the thickness at the back of the seat is the same as in the front. The equal thickness (and lack of a deep contour at the rear of the seat) allows you sit normally. This means you're not forced to sit too far forward...thus allowing certain components of the male anatomy to dangle freely without coming in contact with any part of the toilet...thus restoring inner peace and harmony. ... show more

  • Good product.
A bit too large. Good product.

  • warmer and more comfortable than the plastic
Although it doesn't have a slow close it is larger, warmer and more comfortable than the plastic. You can also sit on the lid without it sliding to one side or another. They made one in the past with slow close but dropped it from their line. Other brands make it with slow close.

  • Not durable.
I replace one of my toilets with the excellent AS Champion toilet which I love. The elongated seat, not so much. It broke after about 6 months. It wasn't dropped hard, it was just sat on by my 180 lb. brother and it snapped clean through on one side I have another toilet in the house I going to replace with a AS Champion toilet, but I think I'll get the round model this time. I think the seat will hold up better. ... show more

  • Low expectations for a $20 toliet seat but this works
Color: White
I'm glad I got this vs the "other" $20 toilet seats at local hardware stores. It was the same price but looks and feels much better. This is just pressed fiber wood vs solid wood, but it appears to be working fine. No noticeable flexing like the others did. Installation was much easier than most because you didn't have to get down on your hands and knees to install it. The screws are exposed vs being covered though. That was the only thing I didn't like. Installed on American standard champion toilets. ... show more
