  • Close Porter Cable, close
Having lived with this compressor for a bit now, I decided to write a review that I feel better represents this product than most I've read. First off, it functions fine. That is to say it doesn't leak air, is quite portable, regulator and gages work, all as to be expected. It is not as quiet as some have indicated. This is not a surprise for an oilless compressor, but don't mistake it for the relative quiet of an oil type. The biggest issue I have with the little Porter Cable though, is it's balance. This thing wants to fall over, a lot. It falls over in the truck, it falls over on the job. The rubber feet form a much smaller footprint than the effective footprint determined by the enclosure. This, combined with a center of gravity that's just about over the middle pair of "feet" exacerbates this problem. Because of this one has to take extra precautions with as it is bound get damaged. ... show more

  • Unmatched Air Compressor
There is no other air-compressor like this on the market. I searched for days, but this compact unit is the only one of it's kind. All other air-compressors are either too tiny for anything other than slowly inflating car tires, or they have an exposed tank with the motor/pump assembly bolted to it. This is THE only unit that is both all together in a single housing, and compact AND LIGHT enough for carry-around use. Similarly, it's performance specifications are outstanding, particularly so when considering it's size. It outperforms both top PSI and SCFM of much larger units. To get near this performance you have to get one with double the tank-size, double the weight, and louder than this unit. I am not saying this unit is quiet, it isn't, but considering it's competition, well, it has none. It is UNIQUE. The unit's specifications speak for themselves. The unit is compact, and powerful, and despite all the guidance elsewhere CAN BE WALL MOUNTED. That's what I did with mine. Is it "designed" to be mounted on the wall? Not exactly, but a single 2.5" screw-in hook supports the unit via it's handle. The handle is so far towards the rear of the unit, that hanging it on the short hook was no issue. (Picture attached. It is not resting on the device below it, a 20 gallon air-compressor. It is "mounted to the wall" by hanging on a plastic-coated screw-in hook below a wall-mounted Shop-Vac.) The included accessories are almost comical in their pointlessness. I say "almost." I guess someone may have a use for them. The unit comes with a nice, professional car-tire inflator adaptor (standard Schrader type), and some plastic gizmos meant to inflate beach-balls, mattresses, balloon, stuff like that. You can only use one of those at a time, since the hose is male threaded, and the two attachments are both females, you'd use one, or the other, unscrewing them, re-teflon-taping them, and then screwing them back on to change the tool you wanted to use. It's nice marketing to say "accessories included," but in practice the notion is impractical I used none of the accessories. I took the female quick-connect off my old compressor, attached it to the included flexible black hose (which I use despite others' contention that it's junk, and I have plenty of professional grade hoses, but I like this quick little flexible hose that recoils back to a compact size PERFECT to accompany this compact compressor), and all my air-tools snap right on for use. Anybody that buys an air-compressor that uses it more than once a year should invest the small dollar-amount to get these quick connects. I can't imagine not having them. I was looking for something to replace my Husky unit which had a similar form-factor. They no longer make such a device, and as it turns out, it seems only Porter-Cable does. As an added bonus, this unit is manufactured in Taiwan, and while some may consider the two countries similar, they are quite dissimilar. Taiwanese products are considered superior by most professionals, and a perusal of a machine-tool catalog bears this out as you'll pay a premium for large metal-cutting mills if the body is made in China, but the "head" is made in Taiwan. ... show more

  • Great for RV use!
This little air pressure is a work horse for RV use! It fills quickly, recycles fast and has plenty of pressure to fill RV tires up to about 135 lbs without issue but remember, this is not 6 gallon pancake compressor. It's lightweight, compact and the housing makes it ready to pack. If you need more, then her bigger compressor. It does not have any quick connect parts which I added to hook up the hose quickly. The little coiled air hose isn't very tough and should be replaced with a better hose when you get the chance. ... show more

  • dumb. If you need to run higher volume tools ...
I bought this in 2013 and used it many times a year for 4+ years. It works flawlessly with pin nailer, brad nailer, stapler and occasionally finish gun. I cooked it by abusing it. I ran it for several minutes straight using it with a blow gun, dumb. If you need to run higher volume tools that will cause it to run consistently look into the 6 gal pancake model or a twin tank model. I just bought this again because it's perfect for what I do and it only weighs 20 lbs,, its compact profile makes it less likely to bang into cabinetry or trim, relatively quiet, easy to store and travel in almost any position behind my truck seat. ... show more

  • A giant of a small air compressor........
This is a well made and designed compressor. I carry it in lower storage of our Motorhome. My tires call for 110 PSI and this little giant fills these truck tires quickly. Quiet and has other uses too. Buy with confidence.

  • great little compressor
So glad that we bought this. We have been having trouble with our RV tires loosing pressure. Only 2 tires would act up, but when they do you have to find a place that can accommodate RV tires and that is NOT a gas station! You need a truck tire place. So we researched our options and decided that this one would be small enough to put in the basement of the RV and would inflate our RV tires up to 85-90 psi. Works great!! We have used it a number of times in the last week for we discovered that we had a valve stem problem. We had 3 tires that we needed to replace the valve stem. Now the tires are staying inflated. But it is great to be independent and be able to inflate your own tires. This plugs into 120v. Those that operate on battery are not strong enough to inflate RV tires, maybe just car tires. We followed the advice of the other reviewers and bought a new hose and gauge. BUT we had to go to 2 hardware stores and 2 automotive stores before we found the female connector that would go beterrn the compressor and the air hose!! We were on our way to Home Depot when we stopped in an auto store where we found the connector. We couldn't find the connector on Amazon. It was a 1/4 inch female to female connector. ... show more
