    • Powerful, portable, 110v air compressor
My dually van's six tires run at about 60 psi; the front a little less, the four rear a little more. Max pressure is 80psi. A little 12v pump, even the ones that cost several hundred dollars, simply don't get the job done. I have 110v in the van and do not like the idea of opening the hood and reaching in to make a connection. You know what Murphy's Law says and it goes double in emergency situations so I started looking for AC/DC units. Same problem as the DC only units: Not enough CF/M to do the job anytime in my lifetime much less without overheating first. I have on of these units for my truck and car. Fine for them staying in the 30's psi but, I think I busted it trying for 58 psi. So I started looking for AC only portable units - HARD TO FIND. I saw one on a van builder's video posted three years ago and reached out. He bought it at Sears. Great, try finding a Sears store! So my search continued. I visited the big box stores to look, feel, lift, gauge size and weight of tanked compressors; hot dog and pancake styles. ALL were too heavy and too large for the space I want to dedicate to one in the garage of my van. Then after days of looking, I came across the PORTER-CABLE 1.5 gallon, oil free, air compressor kit. Pancake or hot dog, I don't know, its fully shrouded. It reminds me of a bowling ball bag. Description says it weighs 20lbs. Its very easy to carry. Its a kit so it came with a coiled hose and some attachments. I use a couple of them, they're not why I bought the unit. I bought a 6 foot rubber house, a couple of quick connector kits, and a tire inflator gun with an analog gauge. Now that's a kit! So I bought the PORTER-CABLE 1.5 gallon, oil free, air compressor because I installed steel valve stems on my van so I could reach the inner rear tires and add a valve cap style TPMS system. The tire shop that performed the valves install didn't seat the two front tires correctly (it is difficult) and I'm loosing air at the base in the right, then the left, front tires. I'll get that fixed but in the meantime, and always actually, I needed an air compressor capable of actually filling my tires - and quickly. Because of my valve stem problem, I've used the Porter-Cable compressor numerous times since purchase. While going to the lake and back, as much as 3 times a day (getting the valves re-seated this week). From my personal experience my Porter Cable compressor will take a tire with 18 lbs of air in it, basically flat, to 58 psi in about minute. With the attachments I have, it also fills my river tubes and inflatable kayak but again, that's not why I bought the compressor. I bought the portable, PORTER-CABLE 1.5 gallon, oil free, air compressor kit to inflate my high pressure RV tires fast, using 110v power and that's exactly what it does. Everything else, is gravy. Yes it's loud, but its quick and I'd rather have loud and do the job fast, than quiet and take for ever - or not at all. ... show more

Easy to use pump. Lighter than pancake compressor, but useful for many applications. I've used on auto tires, bike tires, stapler, nail gun, flooring gun, fencing etc. This is my second one-- I got about 10yrs out of my first one.

    • Great little compressor
This is a great little compressor. I'm a pro. in the building trades and got this to keep on the truck. I have a 2HP 4gallon MakAir MAC2200 and it's portable but weighs about 75lbs and is a pain to lug around, this unit is very light and has no problem keeping up with my nail guns a can shoot about a dozen finish nails before it starts to cycle and about 3 to 4 framing nails so as long as i'm not doing a lot of framing it's just fine. It's not as quiet as the ultra quiet units but not so loud I can't use it indoors. I don't recommend attaching the hose right to the unit I added a female universal quick connect as it will accept all 3 of the most popular air fittings. I don't use the hose that came with it I got a 1/4 x 50ft Metabo polyurethane hose and added the same universal quick connects, the ones I purchased are the YOTOO 7 piece universal quick connects with male swivel ends part number 102021 As soon as the compressor arrived I installed the fittings on the unit and the hose tested it out loaded it on the truck and put it to work the next day, and it's been holding up great for as short a time as iv'e had it i will update my review in 6 months and let you know how it's working. There is no break in procedure but I bleed off all the pressure each time I use it and that keeps wear to a minimum. One last thing I bought this from RFBDirect who had advertised is as used/like new but the only thing wrong was the box it came is was slightly damaged and repaired but the unit was brand new and had all the accessories that were supposed to come with it with the average price being about $150 RFBDirect are selling this unit for $115 and I would buy from them again. ......Greg in California ... show more

This Air compressor is compact, lightweight, and perfect for small tasks around the house or garage. Pro: 1. Compact and light weight makes this very easy to move around and store, this is a big plus since I really don't have that big of a garage or storage space. 2. Quick recovery time. The compressor can refill its tank very quickly after being emptied. 3. Versatile: The compressor is versatile and can be used for a variety of tasks such as inflating tires, blowing dust and debris, and powering small air tools 4. It Comes with 25 feet of air hose which is long enough to reach almost anywhere in your garage or workshop. Cons: 1. Small tank size. The 1.5-gallon tank size doesn't hold up well for larger tasks that require a continuous air supply. Overall, this air compressor is a great choice for small jobs that really don't require a great volume of air.
