This is the handy welder to take anywhere for up to 1/8" or around 10 gauge metal welding jobs. I could weld thicker pieces with multiple passes, but I have much higher power welders that can run heavier rods to deposit more metal faster. 1. It is extremely light. 2. It has a trigger to energize the electrode unlike standard stingers that you have to be careful with to avoid unintentional arcs. 3. It starts arcs smoothly even with 7018 rods. 6011, 6013 rods will be even easier. 4. The duty cycle of around 20% at max power, I only needed 4 out 10 power levels, will allow for a reasonable welding pace. 5. The ground clamp is light yet it is copper rather than the cheap aluminum. It is functional. I will replace it with a higher grade copper ground clamp, heavier gauge wire and another 4 feet of cable. 6. The case it comes in is a quality item that holds everything you need except for a decent auto darkening helmet. I am so pleased with this unit that I am planning to put one in my truck, one on my tractor, and one in the remote workshop.

Honestly cannot believe welding has become so easy! This unit is perfect for small jobs and little maintenance projects. My lawnmower frame literally cracked in half and I was able to weld plates over the crack and repair the frame with this simple little unit. Light weight and functional- makes welding portable and remarkably easy. The welding mask is terrible. I would recommend stepping up to a package with a better mask or just buying the welder as a stand alone unit and purchasing a decent welding mask. Otherwise I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase.

I absolutely love it. My uncle has been a welder for over 70 years and he was amazed at how such a small hand held welder worked so well. I used it to repair a crack in my rv hitch and it worked great. I would definitely recommend this welder for jobs around the house or garage.

I got this for my husband after he hinted about it repeatedly. To say he loves it would be an understatement. He only does small welding repairs and projects and he says it works perfectly and is much handier than the tombstone welder he used in the past. The latter is getting a for sale sign, because this does everything he needs!

I was amazed. This welder is light and easy to control for a beginner. I have used it with 1/16 and 5/64th E6013 rods. At lower settings 2 to 3+ and it works great. No blown fuses even though I think 3 is about 60 amps. With the on off switch, it is perfect for beginner, which I am.
