My decade old Juki F400 died. I've bought and returned several different sewing machines from Amazon in the last few weeks, from mechanical to computerized. There are no dealers near me to do a test drive. So I made a decision to buy this off brand computerized machine. Surprise, surprise. This is a hidden gem of a machine. For less than $115!! Sweet. Stitches are good. Has a front loading bobbin which I really prefer (until the Juki it is the only bobbin type I had ever used in 50+ years). Needle threader. Not too loud. No clunky noise when turning on. Vertical spool posts. Needle positioning. SPEED CONTROL, never knew just how helpful that feature was. Just did a quick trial run upon receipt but will follow up in a few weeks. Let's just say, I can buy one of these every year if need be and still be better off than buying another $1000 machine. Update: Max stitch length would be too short for basting. Not an issue I hand baste. Min stitch length is extremely tiny, would probably bee good for paper piecing. Looks like the max stitch length will be my default setting. Stitch widths are good. Did an excellent blind stitch when hemming a pair of knit slacks. Balanced and even bobbin winding. ... show more

Hello. This sewing machine is nice. My wife is sewing with it. She says it sews real smooth and nice. I looked and read reviews of many different brands and price ranges. I could not spend a excessive amount of money, so that is why i looked and researched for a good while before deciding on this Uten sewing machine. I did sew a couple of stitches on this machine and it is indeed smooth, precise and quite while sewing. It has plenty of different types of stitch patterns and even letters. This is the first machine we have had that you can drop the feed dogs on to free hand if you like. It took awhile to figure out how to raise the feed dogs back up. The instruction manual leaves out an important step. The lever must be pressed “down” before and while returning the lever to the left feed dog up position. Then of course press needle position button twice and feed dogs are back in normal up position. We have had several sewing machines over the years, i would say average price not super expensive ones. We are not sewing experts. My wife has made some clothing in the past with those machines. This Uten operates the best. I am glad i made this choice. Thanks. ... show more

Yes it's easy to use. However the words you try to write. Will be less then a half inch. The words are not really readable. My only regret is not being able to monogram things. Guess I should have read closer 😧

Item arrived non functioning. Reviewed the manual for trouble shooting but I could not get the machine to stitch or load the bobbin. I suspect it was a defective foot pedal since the machine tuned on but it would never operate. Personally, I'm not interested in dealing with them since at this price point you can get reputable names with better support. Item arrived with two manuals, one of which had terrible English and had steps out of order. The 2nd manual was much more in depth and "helpful" but I can see how this would trip a beginner up. I was excited to use this machine. I'm definitely a novice and the instructions are not the best so I watched a few YouTube videos to see what it could do - it seemed like a great little machine. Upon unboxing I was surprised how plasticy it is, making me wonder the durability of it in the long term. My old machine is about 30 years old and weighs a ton. But this one does say portable so maybe that's what they had to do. A few pieces were NOT wrapped in paper or plastic which seemed suspicious at first. Then one part was clearly dirty. This was a gift and the giver said the unit was listed as NEW. I believe it was refurbished at best. Load it up and it kept jamming. I tried different types of thread and changed the tension, same thing. That's when I went on to Amazon to read the reviews on this and saw others complained of the same issues. I ended up sending it back. But the return was easy so 5 stars for that. ... show more

I am in love with this machine. I have been sewing for the past 40 years This is my second computerized machine and I am really impressed by how easy it was to use. It sewed right out of the box. I did not have to adjust the tension. I tried sewing on 6 layers of denim and the Uten sewing machine handled this beautifully. The buttonholes are great. This sewing machine has more options, more features and runs quieter than all others in this price range. Smooth running from extremely slow stitching right up to speed. Awesome one step button holes stitched in the proper direction. Beautiful decorative stitches and perfect utility stitches .Seven mm stitch width.
