  • Tiny!
I know this was small but almost shocking how little it was when I opened the package. I read reviews both positive and negative but took a chance and glad I did. Have a small TV on the enclosed patio and one in the garage and have tried this both place. My old rabbit ear set wasn't getting a lot of the channels anymore after the stations all changed their broadcasts to the new digital standards. Learned two important things: First, positioning is everything. I was setting it straight upright and didn't get some key channels (ABC - Saturday football game!). Instead, pointed it horizontal to the north where all the towers are -30+ miles away - and viola! i think I'm getting 44 stations. Second, there is a huge difference between the two TV sets. One is a 15 year old Magnavox 19" digital and one a new LG 27". surprisingly, the older Magnavox definitely has a stronger tuner in it. When i first couldn't get the new TV to adequately get the channels, I put the old TV in its place and it did fine. that's when I experimented more with the location/position of the antenna. Ordered a second one so will have it in both places. Picture quality is outstanding. ... show more

  • As an FYI only, magnet will not stay in Product
I could have kept using my electric wire but thought this would be easier.... not so much. I am not happy with this product, I guess is my mistake as I should have known better with my Technical back ground but, one my hope and take a chance some times. I had it several times that when I wanted to move this Magnet Based Antenna around that the MAGNET simply stuck on the surface where it was mounted, so it came out of the Base of this product. I feel that should have been glued so none of this would ever be possible. So Thumbs down with a very sad crying emoji. :( Next, it did not pull in all the FTO, Free To Air TV Channels as a different product I purchased to replace this , uhm product (pos) . I guess it is a great product of you were to live IN a big city with very close by TV stations but if not .... I consider this simply as an experiment gone wrong and a product that did not deliver, as the Magnet simply is not secured in the base of the antenna. Flawed design. Upgrade it to have the Magnet at least glued properly inside the base. Because of the design of the Metal Base (curved / angled) the Magnet has no full magnetic contact with the product bottom Base. It is hard to see / notice in the Pictures I took. So depending where and how used it is an ok Product, just not for me and my situation. Who knows if it had a small good amplifier to go with it it may have been an ok product in my situation, just a thought / suggestion. ... show more

  • Better than a coat hanger...
I recently mounted a 24" TV on a concrete basement foundation wall, and I needed an antenna to drive the off air reception. Being a basement location, I knew that off air reception, especially with a small antenna, might be a problem. I didn't want to get into running cable from outdoors or from an upper floor, so the antenna had to be something that worked in the basement. I didn't want something big, so I thought that I'd give this little weenie stick antenna a try and hope for the best. When the antenna arrived, I attached the coax to the TV and set the antenna on top of a storage shelf unit. Meh. Not so good. Unfortunately, the antenna was located behind the HVAC ducting, and there was a lot of pixelation and picture dropout. I was bummed. I could move the antenna out and away from the storage shelf unit, and the picture strength would improve; but, there was nowhere to locate the antenna in open space. Finally, I decided to move the antenna up into the floor joist area, in front of the HVAC ducting to see what would happen. YES! Signal strength came up and the pictures were rock solid. I immediately went to the garage and fabricated an antenna mount from aluminum bar, drilled some holes into it and mounted it to a wooden floor joist, just below the wooden upper level floor deck. I attached some velcro to the bottom of the antenna base to secure it to the mount, and the antenna lives out of sight above my head over my basement work area, providing me beautiful digital pictures on my new TV. The antenna itself is only about 6" tall, and has an attached, non removable length of coax. In my case, I needed to add an inline coax coupler and an additional length of coax to reach my TV. No problem. I had also purchased a powered antenna preamp to boost a weak signal if needed; but, I don't think that I'll need to use it, after all. The antenna appears to be made of brass and screws onto the round antenna base. There is a round magnet in the bottom of the base for attachment to a fixture made of iron or steel. I needed the velcro, because my mount is made of aluminum that is non magnetic. Overall, this seems to be a nicely made little antenna, but it won't perform miracles. Don't expect too much from it. If you have good access to over the air signals, it should fill the bill nicely and unobtrusively. ... show more

  • Versatile!
I recently moved into a new apartment and decided to forgo cable, satellite, etc. etc. etc. and stick with good old antenna TV. I found this little guy and couldn’t imagine he would actually be able to do very much but I bought him anyway. Well, to my surprise, he’s been not only very effective, but very versatile, and subtle. Most people wouldn’t even know that it’s actually an antenna for the TV. The strong magnet on his base means you can attach him to anything around the TV that may be metal. And the long, manageable cord makes maneuvering around furniture pretty easy. And the meat of the matter, picking up the air stations was very easy and efficient. As an added surprise, I was very pleased to see that he is also quite durable. My cat decided he didn’t want to share the mantle with anyone or anything so he pushed it off and gleefully watched it plummet to the ground about 3 feet down. Well, the little trooper took a dent, but didn’t stop working nor did it harm my ability to utilize the magnet. As of this point, this little guy has been doing a great job and better than I expected. ... show more
