  • Filter is too big.
This pump works great except for one thing, the filter does not fit into my one gallon carboys. Other than that it works great for transferring between vessels.

  • Can pump well even uphill
This was super easy to charge and use. As some have mentioned, the filter can have a tendency to float so it might pay to keep an eye on it or weight it down with something. The filter probably isn't fine enough to keep out fine lees but will keep out any larger particulates and perhaps more importantly spread out the intake flow so that you don't get any vortexes sucking lees up into the siphon. The short hose on the output side has pros and cons: it will let you easily control where you're putting the liquid such as pumping into bottles or glasses, but if you're racking into a carboy it can contribute to splashing and more air-exposure. For cleaning it is probably best to run fresh water followed by sterilizing solution through it. Some testing I did: -It can self-prime even at the full height of the provided hose (6.5', yes I had to stand on a chair to test this). -My rough test of the pumping rate pretty much matched the claims: I got .5 gal/min pumping slightly downhill and .4gal/min pumping uphill about 2'. -Once initiated, the pump can be turned off and be used as a passive siphon with a slower flow - potentially useful toward the end of racking. -There appears to be a one-way valve in the device: even though it will siphon passively, it won't back up if the elevations are reversed. If pumping into bottles, keep the bottles higher than the source level to prevent passive siphoning and give you easy control of the flow. -In an endurance test, it didn't run as long as they said it might - I got not quite 3 hours out of it. That still translates to maybe 90gal pumped so it should be fine for handling a keg or 25gal barrel. All in all it looks like it'll do a good job for me. ... show more

  • Convenient and fast pump with integrated battery for quickly filling bottles with beer.
I’ve been using low-voltage miniature pumps to move beer and wort around for a long time. While they are very effective, they normally need some wiring and an external power supply to work – making the final system a bit cumbersome. This product from Timsumr does a great job of integrating a pump with battery power. The product looks to be simply made with the pump mounted at one end of a tube and an on/off switch and USB C socket mounted in a 3D-printed cap at the other end. Operation involves charging the battery with the supplied USB cable and turning the pump on and off with the button switch. No power supply is supplied with the pump. The flow is quite fast for filling bottles – it takes less than 10 seconds. The flow is clean without any bubbles appearing. The flow stops instanly without dripping when the switch is turned off, making it easy to fill a lot of bottles quickly. I would have preferred to have a speed-setting on this device as it’s difficult to prevent initial splashing when filling bottles (I don’t want air in the beer). The other thing I would have liked is thicker-walled tubing. The supplied silicone tubing while a good length (8-ft) is rather thin-walled and easily crimps and blocks when bent. The price has dropped since I ordered this device and at $24, it seems to be more reasonably priced. ... show more

  • Works with various liquids, inluding battery acid!
So i know this was not advertised for the purpose I used it for, but for the record, it worked great for servicing the six batteries in my golf cart. I used it to carefully remove about 16 ounces of acid from each battery, hoping it would last throughout the procedure. It worked fine, without spilling more than a few drops. I did need to pinch off the hose as I moved it from cell to cell and battery to battery. I expected it to break down from the acid but the hoses and mechanism held up fine. Afterward I thoroughly flushed it with clear water, and now that I have used it for acid, I do not ever plan to use it for any food purpose. I will keep it on hand in my garage for use with future non-food purposes. The flow speed, ease of use and battery life were all excellent. It is quite a nice little pump. If you choose to use it as I did, USE EXTREME CARE and know that this is NOT A RECOMMENDED USE BY THE MANUFACTURER. Proceed with extreme caution as battery acid IS HIGHLY CORROSIVE. It can damage living tissue like skin, the inner lining of the digestive tract, and our respiratory system. If battery acid gets in contact with your eyes, it can cause sight problems and potentially blindness. ... show more

  • These work!!!
The media could not be loaded. Portable Food Grade USB Electric Auto Siphon Self Priming Pump for Home Brew Beer,Wine, Beverages,Mead and Kombucha,Rechargeable Beer Transfer Pump Kit bottling 2L/min No Mess Leak Throw out your auto siphon and get one of these. Or like me, get two. They are amazing little pumps. I used one when I racked some wine and when I bottled another wine. It made a huge difference especially in reducing the amount of sediment that got stirred up. The only thing to be careful is that it will siphon even if it is off and the outlet is lower than the source. You can keep everything on the same work surface and let the pump do all the work. Clean up is extremely easy as you can just run your cleaning & disinfecting solutions through using the pump. I'd recommend an initial pass with water and then you can just recycle you cleaning solution through the container. Put both the suction and discharge ends in the same jug and pull it through with the pump. Cleanup and sanitizing takes considerably less time than using an auto siphon. Racking & bottling your beverages will be a breeze. ... show more

  • works well
This works well for siphoning out of a bottle of brewing kombucha into storage/drinking bottles. As another reviewer mentioned, this isn't easy to clean since it doesn't come apart so I've been using water and vinegar mixture flowed by filtered water to clean In between siphon days. But there's really no way to know that it is clean and not molding on the inside which Is possible if leading the juice inside during our hot humid summers. ... show more
